Castle View House Bed and Breakfast

My stay in this hostel was wonderful on a number of counts. First of all, the spacious and comfortable sitting room with a view out to the castle and River Sahnnon was bliss to sit in and rest after a long journey. I was supplied with tea and biscuits and warm conversation. The owners were extremely ready to give me anything I had forgotten to take with me, from shampoo to a phone charger - they catered for my every need there and then above and beyond their due!
My en suite room was clean and bright, the bed comfortable and the bathroom well fitted.
The breakfast was delicious and th eowners kindly prepared it for me at the different and quite early times I required.
The opportunity for a walk in the immediate vacinty unfolded the variety of the coastal beauty and local economy to me. The sprawling river, up turned currach boats, tilled and livestock farmland and farmhouses revealed a well tended and thriving area.
The castle itself has been recently renovated by heritage experts and is full of large alcoves throughout it many floors in which to sit and contemplate the view across the estuary in peace and quiet.
I had a wonderful stay at Castleview and returned refreshed and replete.

“Excellent B and B”

We stayed at Castle view house for a very enjoyable 3 days,on each of which we were provided with a delicious breakfast and a superb four course meal each evening.
The setting of the house itself is postcard perfect, with our room affording an unspoilt view of the castle from which the house draws its name. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with our linen being renewed daily.
Our hosts were amongst the most courteous and forthcoming we have had the pleasure of dealing with, not only providing excellent food, but also making us feel very welcome.
Overall, an excellent B and B which is extremely good value, run in a most welcoming manner.

“Great find!”

The island of Carrig is a beautiful area and we were lucky enough to stay at the Castle View House B&B overlooking the castle. We spent five enjoyable days here where our freshly cooked full Irish breakfasts were delicious.

Our room was kept clean and tidy and the linen was changed regularly. When next in the area we will definitely return.

Very good value for money.

“Too many signs of wear and tear”

Castle View House Bed and Breakfast

Although the owners were very nice and we got a hearty welcome we couldn't enjoy our stay at Carrig Island.

The location is great, but the B&B needs some renovation.
The linen and towels had holes or were tattered and the furniture had also a lot of signs of wear and tear.

Nevertheless everything was clean (even the floor under (!!) the beds and the corners).

The bathroom was very very small and we kept the door open to avoid claustrophobia. The shower changed from cold to hot and back to cold and we had problems to escape the sudden hot water, because the shower room was so small.

In the morning we had to wait a bit longer for our breakfast because the owner overslept. So we had to ring at the door bell to wake him up.

I don't care about old furnish, old linen etc., as long as it is clean and intact, but unfortunately it wasn't intact.

So if you don't care about an older B&B, where the arrangement isn't the newest one and had already a lot of visible sign of wear and tear you can stay there. It is also one of the cheaper B&Bs.

After a renovation of the furniture, linen and towels I would recommend the Castle View House, because the location is great and the owners are very nice.

“in need of updates”

The Castle View's owners were extremely courteous, and quite earnest in their efforts, but I must warn the prospective customer: the place is really in need of some updates. The linens were almost rags, bathrooms were very small and outdated, and the facility was generally a bit of a mess (back rooms look out over a cluttered family back lawn. Food was ok, though overpriced for the quality.
