“Simply Gorgeous”

Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes

May 31, 2008

We decided to book our stay based on the information shared on trip advisor and had no regrets. Our group of 11 used the manoir house as our base for the 4 days visit to the Loire valley, the hotel's location and the town provided us with all convenience and plenty of restaurants at walking distance. Our attic room 21 was clean and comfortable with one window looking onto the river and the other onto the castle , the only minor drawback was the somewhat overused mattress but after a full day sight-seeing I didn't mind that discomfort so much. We were well looked after by Pierre and his colleagues who were very friendly but not overly so. Having Olga the dog there also added to a homey feel. If we do have an opportunity to be in the area again we surely will come back Le Manoir les Minimes.

We chose to visit the Loire Valley to see the famous Chateaux. But among the magnificent residences we saw there, Le Manoir Les Minimes was a beautiful delight. We spent 3 nights there.

It is small and charming.....like being in someone's very elegant and gracious home. The decorating was so fine and tasteful, with interesting and lovely objets d'art all around you. The fabrics covering the walls, windows, and furniture were absolutely sumptuous and luxurious. Some of the furniture was so unique; it was like being in a museum for fine furnishings. (I know my Mother would have had plastic covers on everything.)

There were so many thoughtful little touches all around the hotel for the comfort and convenience of the guests.

Bathrooms were modern and immaculate. In fact, the whole place was amazingly immaculate. Believe me, I checked!

And I can't think of any place I've stayed which had such a distinctive "welcoming committee". Olga will come right up to your car or taxi, tail wagging and ready to make a new friend. I only hope my photos of me and Olga come out well when I have my film developed.

Patrick, the manager, was eager to assist us with every request and meet every need. He was a very kind host and we thank him for making our visit so truly memorable.

This hotel is one of the prettiest and most elegant places I've stayed.

“Luxury and Comfort in the Loire”

Hotel Le Manoir les Minimes

We stayed at Manoir Les Minimes for 3 nights in May 2008. We were very pleased with the location of the hotel, and the of the town, which was perfect for visiting chateaux.

The staff was incredibly helpful with everything from straightening out with Air Canada where to send my husband's lost luggage (it had to go to another hotel in Normandy) and where to go shopping for necessities, to making dinner reservations and suggesting places to visit. This is probably pretty standard stuff, but it made all the difference in getting our trip started off right.

The room was very comfortable, with a bed and small sitting area. We had only a hand-held shower in our bathtub, but it was workable.

The lobby, library and breakfast room were very luxurious. There was both a richness and comfort to all of the rooms. They also have seating outside, perfect for having a drink at the end of the day.

“Very disappointing!”

I chose this property based on the very high rating given by Trip
Advisor. It really is not a hotel. It is more like a B&B. We had one
of the more expensive, and larger rooms in the property, but it was not designed for the comfort of the guest. It was crowded with clutter. The chest of drawers was so "rickety" we had to remove each drawer, and place it on our bed in order to add, or remove our belongings. The beds were not very comfortable. The hair dryer was a challenge. The breakfast was mediocre. I think the most offensive thing that happened to us, was when one evening we got into a pleasant conversation with another couple in the lounge at a little after 11PM and were told it was time to go to bed. I am not sure why this place has such a high rating. The other guests we met while we were staying here were also disappointed. Why is this place so popular?

Management Response

(Management representative)

In answer to your comments, please let us clear up the situation.
We are really sorry not to have been able to live up to your expectations. We did our best to satisfy you …When you asked for an early check-in at 11Am (instead 3 Pm) we managed to get your room ready at the time you expected; When you asked for taxis and restaurants reservation, we made it immediately; When you required about the places to visit, we gave you all information about castles and spots to see in the area; When you had a health problem, we managed to obtain an appointment in Amboise hospital emergencies, so you would not have to wait for the doctor who could come only five hours later…
About the furniture, unfortunately they are real antiques, and therefore not so convenient and functional as new ones you can find in a chain hotel.
About the bedding, it is brand new, exactly the same you can find in Georges V, Fouquet’s and many others palaces in Paris.
About breakfast it appears to us that it was not so poor according to the fact that you spent about 1½ hour each morning in the dining room, enjoying each croissant… Concerning our lounge we lock it at 11:45 Pm, after this time we always invite our guests to use the lounge of the first floor, which is open 24 hours a day.
We are always willing to lend a sympathetic ear to our guests and we do our best to make their stay a memorable one. Unfortunately it seems that we don’t have the same point of view about the art of reception and we are very sorry about this.
In fact it appears in your opinion you’ve written on TripAdvisor Traveler Reviews, that most of the places do not find favour to your eyes.

Spent 3 nights at this hotel with the final night in room #10. This suite has a corner view overlooking the Loire river and the Chateau Amboise. It seemed a shame to leave the room. The location was great with a 3 minute walk to the center of town with all its restaurants. The hotel serves a beautiful continental breakfast for a reasonable 12 euros - no other meals available. The Amboise locations is great central start to visit the Chateaus in the area. The French kings sure knew how to live it up! The staff in the hotel were super friendly and the rooms were immaculate.
