Hotel Mondial was fine. Since it is a two star hotel and dirt cheap, we were nervous, but it was OK. Just do not expect anything fancy at all. The hotel was clean and a great value. The best part about it is the location. It is right on Place de la Resistance, a square with a couple of restaurants and shops, and just a couple of blocks from anywhere you want to go in the city. It is right by Place Plumereau, which has a lot of restaurants and is very quaint.

Expect: To walk up two flights of stairs to get the reception, there is no elevator. No toiletries or other amenties (1 bar of soap for 3 nights). Not much English by the staff.

Great location and very nice staff BUT this hotel is situated over a nightclub, making sleep impossible before 3 am. The weekend we stayed the water supply was cut off (just think about that for a minute.....) and although the staff did their best it was a pretty unhappy stay. Shame - the rooms were good and we tried to like it.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Mondial to break our journey from Limousin to Caen. It is in an excellent location, right in the heart of the old town, which is very lively with bars and restaurants in the evening. The room for four was a good size and the children's beds were proper beds, which were very comfortable. The room had a good en-suite shower room. It was a bit noisy at night though as the hotel overlooks a busy square with restaurants. We had to shut the window and turn the fan on. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and a big benefit for us was the secure underground parking space allocated to the hotel, which cost 8 Euros per night, which was essential as we had all our bikes on the back of the car. The hotel offers very good value for money and is ideal as a stopover hotel.

We stayed at the hotel as an overnight stop on the way to Bordeaux from Calais. A very good location...walking distance to the old part of Tours. However found the decor rather dark and dingy and the room was stuffy. The fan was definitely welcome, but not very effective!
