this hotel is a bit on the basic side, whilst it was clean, it is getting dated. The price is aprox 2 euro per night cheaper booking via their internet site. the pool was not open ( up to the day I left 22nd May.) The receptionist speak good english and are very helpful. Dont turn up between 12 and 2.00 as the doors are shut and you cant get in, lunch time !!!!
If you get there early you can leave your cases until check in time, we were offered complementary croisants and cold drink
The TV has only 1 English program BBC news 24 which worked intermittantly.
The Kitchenette is quite good but does not have a ketle so you should buy a portable one and take it with you (along with the UK/ Euro 2 pin addaptor ) the cups are small half the standard size
The rooms were a bit noisy if you leave the window opened a bit, if you book make sure you dont have a room next to the lifts, these are very noisy,.
There are two lifts which seem to be up and down but never stop at the floor you are on. It took on occaision 8 mins before one finally arrived.
to get to this hotel you can get a taxi and be ripped off 30 euro for 5 min ride, take a number 98 bus which runs about every 20 mins (normally reliable), you buy a day pass which cost 4 euro, the stop is called Magnon, its a two minute walk from there. If you are staying for 5 days or more, buy a weekly bus pass outside the airport by the bus stops (kiosk), price is 15 euro,
The sea is two mins walk from the hotel, the beach is mainly peble . you can buy thick padded beach mats from a DIY store 50 yards from the hotel which is a must, you can hire sun beds on the private parts of the beach but they are expensive, you can buy a beer and sit on them free or while you are eating
the old town is a good 30 min walk and is worth spending some time there. There are many small streets to buy expensive tat !!! but there are some typical outside cafe / bars.
use the bus pass on the correct bus ligne, it saves a lot of walking, be carefull at night they finish early about 9:30, there are some late buses from the station that stop right outside the hotel which is great if you get the last train from Monaco (11.57)
there is a coffee / bar outside accross the street from the hotel which serves good coffee, a bakers that is open from 6am to 12 midnight, the bread is excellent as is the crossants.
For the drinkers, if / when you visit the old town, check prices of beer, this ranges from 3.5 Euro to 9 Euro for draft Half Litre (pint), a glass of local wine is from 3 - 7 euro a glass, more if you have a named one. there are some wine shops that sell the same wine, 1 glass = 1 bottle. Check outthe Irish pub good prices and good pub grub
Having been to this area several times over the last 3 years I have noticed that the pric of food and drink is getting expensive, at about 1.20 euro to a pound
