“The Worst Experience EVER.”

I just returned from my trip to Nice. We decided on this hotel because it was a budget hotel but the reviews were alright. DO NOT BE FOOLED. We had things stolen from us by the maids. $275 and $175 worth of french perfume was stolen from our bags while we were away for the day.

The hotel called the police but would not refund us for anything. We expected to be refunded for all of our three nights stay. We were not even compensated for the last night, when we didn't even stay in th ehotel because we did not feel safe.

It is not only far from the city center but it is DIRTY. The pool was a selling point for us but it was not even filled. The paint was peeling and walking around the room you aquired dust, dirt and other things on your feet.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE.

“Just a block from the beach”

I think there are positives and negatives about this hotel. The biggest plus was that its a block from the Nice beachfront. The room was spacious and clean, and had a balcony and kitchenette. The front desk staff is fairly friendly and accomodating. The downside: I came in and left from the Ville TGV station, which is in the city center, quite far from the hotel, and also the place you need to go to to explore Old Nice or get to Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, etc. by train. Here's a friendly tip - across from the hotel you can catch the 23 bus for only a Euro, going in one direction to the airport, and in the other direction to the city centre/TGV. Otherwise you will end up spending ridiculous taxi fare's!

“basic”

this hotel is a bit on the basic side, whilst it was clean, it is getting dated. The price is aprox 2 euro per night cheaper booking via their internet site. the pool was not open ( up to the day I left 22nd May.) The receptionist speak good english and are very helpful. Dont turn up between 12 and 2.00 as the doors are shut and you cant get in, lunch time !!!!
If you get there early you can leave your cases until check in time, we were offered complementary croisants and cold drink
The TV has only 1 English program BBC news 24 which worked intermittantly.
The Kitchenette is quite good but does not have a ketle so you should buy a portable one and take it with you (along with the UK/ Euro 2 pin addaptor ) the cups are small half the standard size
The rooms were a bit noisy if you leave the window opened a bit, if you book make sure you dont have a room next to the lifts, these are very noisy,.
There are two lifts which seem to be up and down but never stop at the floor you are on. It took on occaision 8 mins before one finally arrived.
to get to this hotel you can get a taxi and be ripped off 30 euro for 5 min ride, take a number 98 bus which runs about every 20 mins (normally reliable), you buy a day pass which cost 4 euro, the stop is called Magnon, its a two minute walk from there. If you are staying for 5 days or more, buy a weekly bus pass outside the airport by the bus stops (kiosk), price is 15 euro,
The sea is two mins walk from the hotel, the beach is mainly peble . you can buy thick padded beach mats from a DIY store 50 yards from the hotel which is a must, you can hire sun beds on the private parts of the beach but they are expensive, you can buy a beer and sit on them free or while you are eating
the old town is a good 30 min walk and is worth spending some time there. There are many small streets to buy expensive tat !!! but there are some typical outside cafe / bars.
use the bus pass on the correct bus ligne, it saves a lot of walking, be carefull at night they finish early about 9:30, there are some late buses from the station that stop right outside the hotel which is great if you get the last train from Monaco (11.57)
there is a coffee / bar outside accross the street from the hotel which serves good coffee, a bakers that is open from 6am to 12 midnight, the bread is excellent as is the crossants.
For the drinkers, if / when you visit the old town, check prices of beer, this ranges from 3.5 Euro to 9 Euro for draft Half Litre (pint), a glass of local wine is from 3 - 7 euro a glass, more if you have a named one. there are some wine shops that sell the same wine, 1 glass = 1 bottle. Check outthe Irish pub good prices and good pub grub
Having been to this area several times over the last 3 years I have noticed that the pric of food and drink is getting expensive, at about 1.20 euro to a pound

we caught a taxi from the airport as it was early morning and we just wanted to get there, but public buses from the airport stops out front of the hotel. Were met by smiling very friendly girl who checked us in and had maps on hand. Room was out back, small with no balcony, so my wife went to reception and they gave us a room in front with a balcony. Was great watching the locals go about their business from here, especially the sandwich bar across the road that was continually busy. Although self catering, it lacked a jug, so we boiled our water in a pot. Rooms were cleaned every day and new towels were given, as is normal, when they were left on the floor. Good supermarket short walk around one corner and the beautiful beach around the other. Plenty of eateries around and the town centre is not that long a walk anyway. Buses are very regular and link up to the train station for your day trips to Cannes and Monaco. Location is good, staff is friendly and helpful, (especially girl called Aleila or something similiar, very professional) Overall, we enjoyed it

Although it wasn't the best hotel we've ever stayed in, it was really good considering it's one of the cheapest in Nice.

Some of the other reviews have said that the rooms don't get cleaned very often and that the towels don't get changed, but we discovered that the booking we made only included a weekly clean and we were basically classed as self-catering. We actually found this brilliant because we didn't have to worry about getting in the maids' way. We really felt like we were left to our own devices and that's exactly what we were looking for.

Nice is amazing as well. It's beautiful and there is loads to do. The promanade, which is very near to the hotel, is wonderful to walk along at any time of day and makes the short walk into the centre of town very interesting, and would also be perfect to rollerblade along. The only advice we would give is if you're looking for a relaxed holiday, don't go in July as about 90% rest of France will be there with you!
