“Loved It!”

Le Prince Noir

Jan 12, 2008

We stayed at Le Prince Noir for two nights in August 2007 and completely love this hotel!

The hotel is set in the most amazing position overlooking Les Baux, just below the castle. We had amazing views and clear skys provided a perfect sunset.

The hotel was very clean and our room was spacious and comfortable (we stayed in the cheapest room and it was very nice). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was one of the best we had on our 2 month trip around Europe!

We have no hesitation in reommending this Hotel. Las Baux is an amazing small town and experiencing it after the tourist crowds have departed for the day was magical.

Note, if you have a car you will need to carry your bags for 300m as cars are not allowed into Les Baux.

“AMAZING PLACE - THERE IS NO OTHER LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!”

What an amazing place! It is truly an experience staying here - the website doesnt do it justice! It is literally built into the side of the stone city - which is so quaint and charming. This is a sleepy little town with so much character and unlike any other we stayed in Europe. Highly highly recommend. The owners were so nice and saw to our every need.........the freshest breakfast we had in all of Europe - and we ate on their balcony overlooking the city - breath-taking. LOVED IT! You wont be disappointed.

I chose Le Prince Noir for its location at the top of Les Baux de Provence and for its terraces with out of this world views and I was not disappointed in the least. The website photos are accurate - I have posted some of my own for your review as well. The bathroom was unique with the shower open to the wash basin and a wood slat floor - the toilet was in a separate room. The bed super comfy with a view straight out the sliding glass door to the terrace and the hills. My room (Le Bijou) also had a small kitchen with microwave, frig, and table. Breakfast was standard European - croissants, baguettes, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. and can be served to you in your room or on the terrace which I highly recommend.

But some words of warning... Les Baux is closed to cars during the day and even after hours you may choose not to drive its one and only one lane road that goes straight up the hill to the chateau because it looks quite difficult to maneuver. When making your reservation you ARE advised of such so I cam prepared. When I arrived at Les Baux I parked my car in the visitor's parking lot and took a small bag of essentials with me when I checked in. After seeing the road I decided that I would not drive the short distance to the B&B and just carry a smaller overnight bag with me and leave the large suitcase in the car. It is an uphill climb and up more stairs into Le Prince and then more stairs to your room, but the reward is well worth your effort. That being said, one should be in fairly good physical condition if they are considering staying here.

The overall experience was truly awesome and unique.

I recently stayed here with my family in one of the larger rooms with 2 bedrooms and it was wondrful!
Not only are you right in Les Baux, but this B and Bl backs on to the castle!..
The rooms was very large, and included a balcony and the breakfast was served in a lovely warm cozy room and was just wonderful!
Would we stay here again? Yes!!!

“Incredible B&B in old Les Baux”

Le Prince Noir

Oct 12, 2006

Beautiful B&B carved into huge rocks above the feudal town of Les Baux, the original home of the Princes of Monoco! Gracious innkeeper makes you feel welcome. Rooms are spacious, clean and have magnificent views of the old town, which is truly a special place in the world. Nice breakfast included in the price. A very unique property for those who like to avoid the big hotels and want charm!!
