I stayed at the Hotel Maingau for one night. The location is in the historic Sachsenhausen area of Frankfurt. It was an easy walk from the Bahnhof to the hotel and then to the sights in the area. The room I had was very small, approximatley 120 to 150 square feet. It was very clean with a TV, shower, sink (outside the bathroom), closet and paper-thin walls. The hotel is not for the out of shape. There are many stairs, and the elevator is almost ineffective. The breaksfast is great.

Despite its shortcomings the Hotel Maingau is an excellent value. Not only do you save on rate, but there are no cab fares. I plan on staying here on my next "layover" in Frankfurt.

We stayed at the Maingau for one night before leaving on our Viking River cruise down the Rhine. We loved this hotel - fabulous value for the price! We paid 70 euros, and that included a buffet breakfast that included meat, cheese, pastries, etc. Our room was very nice, in a simple scandinavian style, and the bathroom was a reasonable size and clean. The location was great - very close (5 min walk) to the applewine taverns, where we had a great time at dinner, and a very short walk (10 min) to the Dom and Christmas market, as well as the Viking boat we were taking. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Franfurt.

We stayed in the Maingau for two nights, and we enjoyed our stay. It was a bargain compared with other Frankfurt hotels. The breakfast was great. The quiet location is close to the river and to the Sachenhausen restaurants and nightlife. The only cons were a very small bathroom, no english TV stations, and they didn't give us a wakeup call early one morning.

Just about to embark on my second visit to Frankfurt and will be staying in the Hotel Maingau again. The location is excellent, about 10 mins walk from the shopping district, 20 mins walk from the Banking/Business district and 10 mins walk from the entertainment district (Sachsenhausen). The staff are very friendly and efficient and the rooms are clean. The rooms may be a bit small/basic for some people, but as I only use them to sleep in, they are fine.

Excellent quality for the price/location. Definately recommended.
