We stayed at the Maingau the night before our return flight. It was very hot, both in the room and out. We asked the front desk clerk, who seemed irritated to be interrupted from playing on the computer, if it would be possible to get a fan for the room. He said that he would look into it. We got the distinct impression that he wasn't about to look for a fan at all but was just pretending that he would to temporarily appease us.
When we returned, he said that he would continue to look for a fan, but we never heard another word from him. I carry a small thermometer/compass on my purse and it was 94 degrees in the room with NO air circulation. If the desk clerk would have been straight with us and told us that there were no fans, we would have gone out and bought one ourselves. That was the most uncomfortable night we have ever spent in a hotel.
Our room was on the first floor and faced the street and was very noisy at night but closing the window was not an option. The cost was 78 euro per night.
On the positive side, the hotel is located close to the Main and close to the historic part of town. There is a nice coffee shop next door.
There is no parking!! You must park at a public lot about two blocks down the street.
Our room was large enough (it was a triple, although there were only two of us) and was clean. The breakfast was marginal, compared to other German breakfasts we have had.
Would we stay there again? Probably not.
