We arrived at the Amadeus last week with a confirmation for two connecting rooms (reserved in November). They gave us the keys for our rooms-on different floors!

We explained that since we have small children this wouldn't do and asked if they had any other rooms. They at first tried to tell us it was our mistake, but I had the e-mail there and showed them. They said they had no other rooms and so we asked them to call other hotels to find us rooms.

After some time on the phone, they told us we could have two rooms across the hall from each other on the ground floor (not sure why they earlier said they had no other rooms). Not feeling we had much choice as it was then after 5 pm, we said we would take them for now.

Both rooms were very small and dark. When we opened the door of one, there was a large cockroach there to greet us. The room safes were not attached to anything and one did not work at all.

I took advantage of Amadeus's Internet connection and went to TripAdvisor and found Hotel Puerta de Sevilla (not sure why we didn't book here originally). I figured out it was just a few blocks away so we went there. They were full, but referred us to the Hotel Dona Manuela around the corner. I will review it separately, but it was great.

We went back to the Amadeus and took our things and told them we were leaving.

There are many, many hotels within a few blocks of the Amadeus. The reviews on here mention the charm of this place, but it seems to be the luck of the draw based on what rooms you are given, and reservations don't seem to matter.

“Charming hotel”

Just back from a wonderful two night break in the Amadeus, where we had a double superior room (202). Our room was clean and spacious as was the en suite bathroom, a full sized bath with shower and also a hairdryer. Being an inside room there was no view from the window and little natural light, but it was very quiet and peaceful.
This hotel is full of character and well placed for exploring the pretty little squares of the Santa Cruz district, the Cathedral and the Alcazar. The staff are helpful and friendly, and breakfast could be taken on the roof terrace or in your room, and was a selection of fresh bread rolls served hot with butter, jam and cheese, two oranges each, a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice and a pot of coffee or tea.
If you fancy something different for breakfast, there are some good pavement cafes in the square ( Maria la blanca) just round the corner. Try also Cervesaria Giralda opposite the tower for tapas, we had patatas importencia here (jacket potato with ham and melted cheese covered in a light sauce) and it was delicious.
This part of Seville has lots of parks and gardens, and in late march many trees are in full leaf with lots of oranges and blossom. The Parque Marie Louisa and also the Jardine Murillo are delightful places for a stroll. Finally the highlight of our trip was the Alcazar and its gardens, allow a few hours for this on a nice day.

“Wonderful small Spanish hotel with great location!!”

What a wonderful find! Quaint hotel very close to the cathedral, which is a must-see! In 'old Sevilla' close to wonderful tapas bars, shops, entertainment, and many sights. I would recommend the junior suite, with 3 balconies and a king-size bed. Great shower and quite roomy for a Spanish hotel that is this reasonably priced. The management speaks English and is very helpful. Just a great experience. Added bonus...rooftop patio on which you can enjoy a meal or coctails!

Ah... Reading all these reviews takes me back to 3 wonderful nights we spent in the hotel Amadeus to start our two week Andalusia holiday. The Hotel is very clean and the staff attentive. We stayed next door in the La Musica annex. The room was quite large with a nice modern marble bathroom, flat panel TV and a frig and sink with dishes should you choose to dine in suite. Being Spain there were little details here and there that needed fixing, the sort of stuff a Middle American handyman would spend hours obsessing over. We were here during the winter and a rainstorm brought a surprising amount of water in on the upper stairs from the roof deck due to poorly constructed weather stripping. Oh well, guess I’ll walk down to Cafe Leeves and enjoy some Tapas while pondering more important things

Stayed here a while ago and forgot to review. It was one of the most charming places we have stayed at. Breakfast on the roof terrace was fantastic - fresh bread rolls and lovely Seville oranges. Staff were friendly and helpful - helps if you speak Spanish though as some of the serving staff don't speak English. A quiet oasis to which we look forward to returning.
