went to Rome from Feb 22-25th and stayed at the Modigliani (----). The hotel is located on a small street. But in Rome, almost all the streets are really dark and narrow. it's located about 7 minute walk to the Spanish Steps and about 7 minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain. The location was pretty decent. We switched rooms after the first night. The first room had a very institutional look and feel to it. The second room had a balcony and some furniture and was much more pleasing. As you've read in other places, the room is small and the shower is tiny. Breakfast is provided. Same food everyday but nonetheless a nice start to the day. From the airport, you can take the train to the termini, which is 10 euros and about a 30 minute ride. From the Termini, you can take the red line (line A) and get off at the Barberini stop. Once you get up on to the street level have somebody point out Via Del Purificazione. Once you find the street, finding the hotel is a breeze. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very near to the big streets and the subway. We bought 75 minute subway passes (1 euro) to get to our tourist spots, mostly, we walked there. There is an internet cafe about 5 minutes from the hotel, which came in handy for us. 2 euros for 50 minutes. Not bad. You can't go wrong when looking for yummy food. Everything in Italy tastes good. Even eating near the Trevi fountain is very affordable. Pizza and pasta is all between 4-7 euros. Bangladeshi peddlers will annoy you to no end at the Trevi fountain...but i digress. When riding the subway, be VERY VERY CAREFUL for pick-pockets. We were very careful the whole trip and on the last train ride to the Termini, on our way to the airport, we were accosted by 2 separate thieves. One young girl of 12-15 years old made an attempt for my wallet and one older girl of about 16 made an attempt and got a hold of my wifes coin purse. Thankfully, we got it all back. It all left a very bad taste in our mouths. If this problem is so prevalent, then the gov't needs to crack down. It's just a shame that no one cares enough to put a stop to this. Contact me for more info on Rome or this hotel or any questions about the little things. Good luck. Overall, we had great time.
