“Great location, but....”

Del Corso Hotel

Jul 29, 2007

OK, so Hotel Del Corso is on probably the most famous shopping street in Rome, it also is within walking distance to many of the big attractions such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and Pantheon. So, location wise it is brilliant, which is very much reflected in the pricing...quite costly. The rooms are all disappointingly small and dark for the money, however the street-side rooms seem to be more light and airy. Our room lacked a few necessities such as a proper shower (hand shower only), a bathplug, no coffee making and unpredictable air conditioning. Staff were a mixed bag, with one being marvellous and helpful, the other being somewhat surly/ On a brighter note, there is a lovely rooftop garden where breakfast is served and again, the location is fantastic....we just didnt see the value.

“New Year In Rome”

Del Corso Hotel

4 of 5 stars
nottingham
Jan 20, 2007

Hotel del Corso was better than expected. The rooms were nice, clean although quite small - I do think this is to be expected in Rome. The hotel staff were really nice and friendly. We stopped New Years eve but would probably have been better to go another time of the year. On New Years Eve people were buying fireworks and alcohol in the street. You couldn't get any food unless you booked and there was a minimum $110 euros charge each. The hotel is in a great location for shops and you could walk to the spanish steps and the trevi fountain (although it shouldn't have been difficult to find we had difficulty). We did walk to other places but about a 40 minutes walk. The best food was near trevi fountain (a pizza place). To get to the hotel was either 45 euros in taxi or on the terravision coach and then the underground to spagna. We did okay getting there although couldn't move for people on new years eve but managed to come out of the wrong exit on the return journey and there were not any signs. Would recommend a visit as a nice place to see and would recommend Hotel Del Corso - just remember that Sky News is the only English TV channel and take your travel kettle.

“Great find”

Del Corso Hotel

Nov 12, 2006

Del Corso was a great place to stay. It was very close to the buslines and the metro lines as well as being on the main street in Rome ( Via del Corso). The staff was extremely helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was also very comfortable. The hotel had a problem with their hot water and needed to be turned on about 10 minutes before you shower.

“Awful Room”

Avoid this hotel! Excellent location, but terrible rooms and service (the pictures shown on its website are deceiving).
The driver sent by the hotel for airport pickup was late and we had to call the hotel twice to find out if he was indeed coming. Our room was not ready until late afternoon and when we finally saw it we were deeply disappointed. It was small and dark, the bathtub had black mold all over, the hair dryer was broken, and everything else seemed to be in disrepair. We found another hotel room nearby and tried to move but didn't because we would be charged for the first night if we left. Breakfast was meager and not up to a typical Italian hotel's standards (this was our 12th trip to Italy). We would never even consider staying at this hotel again.

“Could have been better”

Del Corso Hotel

Oct 13, 2006

Went to this hotel for a wedding. The service was ok. They twice forgot to wake members of our party for taxis to the airport when we were going home. Breakfast was on the roof which was beautiful but did not tell us when it was raining that breakfast was inside. If you did not get down before 8 o'clock you did not get much choice of food. The rooms were ok. The safe was not working. The toilet flooded the room. At night you could hear the air conditioner and sleep was difficult. Apart from that the location is perfect. Right in the heart of shopping land and not far from main areas. You get a bus to the Vatican but I would prefer Hotel del Corso location.
