My wife and I stayed at Les Chambres d'Or for one night on a quick stop over in Rome. We chose it based on a friend's recommendation and because it is walking distance to the Vatican. The hotel was very nice and very secure. The rooms were very clean, nice sized and more than adequate for our needs. Although I don't recommend driving in Rome I did and the staff was very helpful in helping me find a safe place to park on the street in front of the hotel. It was easy to get to and from the hotel using my GPS. Breakfast was excellent and consisted of considerably more than just croissant and coffee. Two tips on finding the hotel is to approach from the west as that block of the street is one way west to east (I drove the wrong way down the street Neapolitan style) and the desk is actually across the street from the hotel entrance. Ring the bell at number 32 and they will pop across the street to help you. I recommend the place and will probably go back there on my next trip to Rome.

DANGER - DANGER - DNAGER

Avoid this Hotel.

First of all, the rooms are rooms they rent and are spread out at different locations. The first room they gave us was around the corner in a different building. I booked a room for three, my wife, my 26 year old son and myself. The room I booked was advertised as a room with a queen sized bed and a sofa bed. It had the queen sized bed but no sofa bed instead it had two twin beds in this tiny room where we were walking all over ourselves. The air conditioning did not work and because we arrived at 5:00 pm, they would not be able to have a technician there until the following morning. If you have been to Rome before in the summer, it is very warm there. Needless to say at the $300 per night rate, I told them that that was not acceptable and since they were booked fully, that they find me another hotel. They then moved us to another room across the hall which was equally cramped. (We noticed later that night, our original room had new occupants, presumably those individuals that were suppose to get our new room).

When we checked in, they told me that the room was the best that they had. When they moved us, they again said that the new room was their best.

They advertise Wi-Fi but it is not available due to "security reasons." So to be able to get Internet access, we had to go down to the small lobby. They then gave us a network cable to plug into their Internet access. After going through several cables and reboots every evening we tried, two out of the four nights we were there it worked. Their "technical support" was "We have access on our lobby computer, it must be your computer." I work for a software company and know how to make a computer work.

I would never consider staying at this hotel again because of our experience. Also, although the Vatican is within walking distance, I would stay somewhere closer to the center of town where everything else is closer.

This is a wonderful hotel, and i would recommend it to anyone. from the moment we arrived we were made to feel right at home. The staff were absolutely first class, and interacted with us so easily, in particular Sam, Junior and the ladies man Resvan!!! We could not have asked to stay in a more friendly and homely hotel than the Hotel Chambres D'or and we will definately be back. I have already recommended it to quite a number of people, and they will be booking into this hotel also.

loved everything about this hotel,the room was great just the right size for three people,and spotless may I add.
Location ......well what can you say ....brilliant ,and as for saftey you can walk the streets no problem at 2am (which we did).....as for service at the Hotel as previous people have already writen service is FIRST CLASS.
