I stayed in the Hotel Lloyd for 2 nights on a weekend in September 2005. Room and bath were clean and the bed and chairs were comfortable. Closet space was adequate for leisure or business travel. I was there on a combination of both. Hotel was quiet and security good as there was only one entrance and hotel keys are stored at the desk, which was staffed 24/7. No smoking rooms of course.
There were pay per view programs available of all types and venues to guests and there was one German TV channel and two or three English TV channels, with the rest in Italian.
Breakfast was quite adequate. Coffee/espresso,capucinno, latte machiatto, steamed milk and hot chocolate made to order. Water, juices, yogurts, jams, jellies, some cold meats, cheeses, breads, and croissants were served in a buffet presentation. A toaster was there as well. Room was a bit crowded but pleasant and quite lively.
Only drawback was the elevators. They were quite small but there were two.
My room faced the back of the hotel grounds on the sunny-side and was very quiet. The room had an air conditioning unit that was controlled by the guest.
Staff was pleasant and helpful - speaking beautiful Italian and very good English. Not sure about German. Most guests in the hotel were Italian but there were some Dutch and British guests.
Hotel was located between two Metro stops. You can walk about 10 minutes or less to the Dome. Neighborhood seemed fine but was more commerical than residential. Taxis come quickly if needed. There was a bar/club or two nearby but this was not the nightlife area.
Overall my stay was excellent, no complaints. The hotel was nice. Of course there are many more expensive and perhaps nicer hotels near the dome.
I paid 130 euros a night and in Milan for what I received -and the location - this hotel is a very good value. I would stay there again.
