“the hotel we stayed in in Padua”

This is a very nice bed and breakfast and a stone's throw to the Basilica of San Antonio. It is close to everything and the staff are very friendly and nice. The accomodations are sparce but very clean. You can wake up every morning to the charming sounds of church bells. The restaurant downstairs serves very delicious food, I loved the pizza from its charcoal fired brick oven. The bakery Margarita (?) which is two doors down has really great pastries.

We stayed at this hotel again this year and got a bg room in the back part of the hotel. It was the handicap room and was very large. The bathroom was also large and very, very nice. We loved our stay here. The breakfast is limited but DELICIOUS. I would go back just for the Nutella croissants!!!!! Coffee is hot and the breakfast room cozy and quiet. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay near the Basilica of St. Anthony and other very interesting sites in Padua. Also, it's only 30 minutes by train to Venice! The only complaint we had was the HARD beds!!!

“Good position, basic rooms, beware the bells”

This was our second stay at Al Santo returning with another couple for a week exploring The Veneto. As other reviewers have remarked the hotel is well positioned in the old town and close to the Basilica of St Antonio, a visit to which became part of my early morning routine stimulated by the time-check - see below. Rooms are varied in size, furnishing is basic but overall clean and functional. Our friends spent their first night in a strangely shaped street-facing narrow room with twin beds placed head to head like a school dormitory. After talking to the helpful hotel receptionist they were moved to a much larger room at the back of the hotel for the rest of the stay.
As regards noise you are in a 'Hobson's Choice' situation at the Al Santo. Front facing rooms suffer from traffic noise, the hotel fronts directly onto the narrow one-way street. Rear facing rooms enjoy the sound of the bells from the adjacent Basilica starting at 6:00 am with a time check, 7:00 am time-check and call to Mass followed by further performances until you finally give in and get up. Breakfast OK but basic. Restaurant next door serves good food. People running the hotel friendly and helpful but speak limited English and French. OK value for money.

“Beautiful city, hotel could do better”

First big minus point is the lack of a car park attached to the hotel; we had to park a long way away on a public square and carry our luggage round. Second minus point is the fact that the ladies on reception did not speak English. Third minus point was that the breakfast and breakfast room were both totally uninspiring - no staff on hand at all; we were just left to it and a very "basic" breakfast.
On the plus side, it is ideally situated to see the wonderful sights of Padova, the room was very clean and spacious and the bathroom excellent.

We stayed at this hotel after leaving a terrible hotel in Milan - so to us we were thrilled by this place. The hotel is is smack dab in the middle of everything, although it can be hard / confusing to find when you first arrive. The room was fine and clean, nothing too excitting. The bathroom was very nice, looked like it had just been renovated. The women at the front desk were very helpful, despite not speaking much english. We didn't have breakfast as they charged extra for it.
