“Terrible mistake”

Accademia Palace Hotel

May 1, 2008

Have you ever heard more than 200 buses parking at 1am under your room? At this hotel you will !
The hotel is very far from the center of the city, it looks like you are in a deserted area. Although it is a 4 star hotel, the breakfast selection is very very limited. Upon our arrival, they gave us a king size room as we have booked, but our room was above the buses parking station so there was no way to open the windows because of the noise and fuel smell. Now if you decide to close the windows, the AC doesnt work because for the hotel management, the season for air conditioning didnt start yet, so rather then not sleeping from the noise, you will not sleep from the heat. The staff refused to change the side of our room because the hotel was full as they said. But after 1 night there, we decided to leave, and magically, a room of our choice was available.

“No service available”

Accademia Palace Hotel

From the beginning on- when we arrived the clerk told us tht there is no reservation for us. At least the hotel has not been overcrowded so we managed to get a room. The safe has not been in operation either. <during our 2 days stay we have not managed to get a trip with the described shuttle. On our first morning breakfast no additional cups has been available and on and on ...

“Great... but too far”

Accademia Palace Hotel

Aug 20, 2007

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night in August. Arriving from train station by foot was terrible as it is about a 30 minute walk around a deserted area. Not recomended at nights.
Staff was friendly and upgraded us an executive room though we had booked a standard one. Room was amazing, it even included a separate dinning room. Bathroom spacious an bedroom was nice. Breakfast was algo pretty good.
The downside is that it is too far from downtown and you NEED a cab to get the hotel at nights (10€). Considering the price it is very good place of 1 or 2 nights, but not a longer period.

“Best Part: The staff”

Accademia Palace Hotel

4 of 5 stars
San Diego, California
Aug 10, 2007

The staff was very helpful and spoke very good English. The guy at the front desk helped us many times with questions we had about the city. The only drawback is the location. It is very far away from the main part of the city and it will cost you (on average) 6 to 9 Euros just to get to town or back to the train station. It can be pretty expensive if you are there for 3 days. If you are used to American hotels.,. this is the closest you will find to it in Italy. Fairly big rooms, nice bathrooms and a big bed... albeit hard as a rock. But I think that is how they roll in Italy. Hard beds and hard bread!!!!

“Great food, service and price!”

Accademia Palace Hotel

Three of us stayed 3 nights (2 rooms) at Padua's Accademia Palace in October, 2006 and even though the hotel was a bit out of the way, the price was unusually low and the food and service were great.

The breakfasts were elegant and delicious, and the restaurant's food and service were excellent; the bathroom, large with plenty of hot water and pressure; beds, comfortable; and heating and cooling, satifactory.

We found plenty of outlets in the rooms and although the hotel internet worked only in the lobby, the staff patiently worked on their system until we were connected.

During daylight hours, we walked from the hotel to the city center or to the train station (we went into Venice twice), and took a cab after dark. There are no sidewalks along some of the streets near the hotel. Even though Italians seem to be actively involved with the traffic every minute they're behind the wheel (talking, yelling, gesturing), they don't hesitate to park alongside the narrowest of roads at all imaginable angles. So pedestrians must always use extra caution.

TIP: Italian restaurants open late by US standards - usually 8:00 p.m., some open a bit sooner. If there is a particular restaurant you really want to try, be sure to make a reservation. It may look like there are more restaurants in a town than there are people, but the better ones can fill up in a matter of minutes after opening.
