“Gorgeous place”

Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo

Stayed in September 07. Found the hotel easily following the directions provided (bus from airport then vaporetto). The hotel is in a great location - easy to jump on a vaporetto and get to places yet away from the touristy busy areas.

We had a room with a small balcony overlooking the side canal and it was gorgeous. The room was big and quiet.

Staff were lovely recommending great places to eat / visit.
Breakfast was lovely however we tended to skip it so we could enjoy the experience of ordering cornetto and coffee standing in the bar with locals!

The hotel was just as it appeared on their website and really set the mood for our trip. Cant wait to visit again.

We booked seven rooms at the Al Ponte Mocenigo as we got married in Venice on April 9th. Our booking was made purely on Tripadvisor reviews and we could not have been happier with our choice.

The hotel is located just a minute away from the San Stae stop and is easy to reach by water bus or taxi. (If like me you are unsure how to pronounce the name it is Al Ponte Motch-en-ego not Al Ponte Moss-en-ig-o)

The hotel is small but incredibly welcoming and all of the rooms we booked were beautifully decorated. The rooms in the main hotel seemed to have baths and the annexe rooms had showers but we had no complaints at all from our guests. The rooms and public areas are also spotlessly clean. Beds are firm but really comfortable.

Breakfast is delicious (particularly the famous apricot croissants!) and there is a reasonably priced minibar in the rooms. Internet access is free of charge.

What makes this hotel so special however are Walter and Sandro and thir staff. Without exception, they are the most friendly and helpful people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. Walter and Sandro will answer endless questions and have an incredible knowledge and love of Venice while the housekeeping staff are friendly and happy and nothing is too much trouble.

We couldn't have asked for a more special place to stay for our wedding and the hotel deserves all the praise it receives and long may it continue.

“pure luxury!”

There are not enough words to describe the splendor of Al Ponte Mocenigo! Based on TA and Rick Steves guidebooks, we booked this hotel for 3 nights. When we turned down the tiny side street entrance to the hotel, we were a little leery, but once the doors opened, all worries disappeared! The hotel is awesome! We booked the junior suite for 2 nights, which has a tiny balcony overlooking the patio area. This room was unbelievable, especially the size....it was huge! The wood beam ceilings and terrazzo floors added that special Italian touch, and the furnishings (especially the canopied bed) just made us feel wrapped in luxury. The bathroom was immaculate, and probably bigger than my bedroom at home. I have never been in such a large room/bathroom in any hotel anywhere. The third night we had a sup. dbl room (the red room) which was even better than the first. Again, I cannot believe the size of the room and the bathroom. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were spotless.
There is a wonderful breakfast each morning. It was pretty cold while we were visiting, so nobody was eating on the outside patio. It got a little cramped in the breakfast area, but certainly nothing to complain about. All of the staff were extremely helpful, from recommending restaurants, taking care of our breakfast needs, and even helping us find the nearest pharmacy when I wasn't feeling well.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. And to make it all even better, it was the best value! I am still amazed at how beautiful the accomodations were for such a small price.
The location, too, was great. A quick 10 minute walk over the bridge and to all the main sights, yet far away from all the hustle and bustle to really make you feel relaxed and "Venetian".
When I returned home, I was reading Travel and Leisure magazine, and sure enough there was yet another recommendation for this hotel. If you are planning a trip to Venice, don't pass this up. It is unforgettable!

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo for 3 nights while we were in Venice April 9th - 12th. I booked the hotel, as others, based on the positive comments from fellow TripAdvisor reviews. Our expectations were exceeded! The hotel was beautifully decorated, CLEAN!, and the staff was so accomodating and nice. My husband said, "I can't believe this is a 2 star hotel!" The location is great, just off the public water transport stop and the hotel is easy to find (even at night) in a sometimes confusing city! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Venice!

“We keep coming back”

Our 11th Venice trip, covering 50+ nights, and our 3rd visit to Al Ponte Mocenigo - cumulatively 14 nights here. It's always our first choice if available.

We have nothing but good to say about Sandro and Walter and all their staff, who are consistently polite and helpful - we've suggested that they all be issued with name badges as if you're there for only a couple of nights you may not even realise who the owners are.

We also looked at a few - and there are only a few - negative comments on this site, and they are problems of expectation - we once had the small room, #2; it was booked as a small double, we were reminded that it was a small double when we checked in, and it was fine - more to the point, the aircon worked! After all, we only wanted to sleep there!

As for the guests who took the hotel towels out to the Lido beach and were surprised to be castigated - where did they learn their behaviour and manners?

Our only concern at giving our consistently good ratings is that it must contribute to our occasional difficulties in booking, by increasing their occupancy. But they deserve it, and it would be churlish to withhold praise in order to try to keep it for our convenience.

Keep up the good work, Sandro e Walter!
