We stayed at this hotel in early Sept 2006 because of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Our room was quite small and faced on to the main road with the park across the street. The music and voices from the piazza at night were incredibily loud.We asked to be moved to a quiter room and the staff thankfully accomodated us. The back garden is lovely for a drink,the staff are friendly and the location is close to everything. We did have a good stay but beware if you given a room facing the park!

We stayed at the Hotel Caravaggio for two nights and it was everything I was looking for- good location, clean, and a good price.

We had a room that faced the building, so it was very quiet. The room itself was very clean and the water pressure and hot water was great. The staff was very helpful- they answered all our questions and made museum reservations for us. The breakfast was more than adequate- breads, cereals, coffee, tea, juice.

The location was great- a very easy to walk to pretty much all the major places in Florence.

We stayed at the Caravaggio for four nights in late OCT. We just loved the hotel! The staff, especially Marco, were just fantastic. We had a beautiful room that overlooked the Piazza Independance.

We walked everywhere and had a great time. This is another hotel we found from Trip Advisor and we are so glad we followed other travelers' advice. Just a wonderful place to stay.

This is not a review of accommodation but a warning to those using online booking services.

In May this year I decided to book a long weekend in Florence for October and booked my flights and accomodation on the Hotel Caravaggio website.

In July Ryanair cancelled my return flight which meant I couldn't go. I went onto the website and cancelled the accommodation-this was confirmed on screen but I haven't a printer and it wouldn't save to my hard drive.

I thought it would be fine since it had been confirmed. However I have just checked my credit card bill and I have been charged for a night's accommodation-presumably they think I didn't turn up! I am going to try and get my money back but I think the chances are slim so watch out and double check if you cancel!
