“Simply the Best!”

Hotel Vecchio Asilo

How do we begin to write about the best experience of our 3 week stay in Italy. It felt like 'home' - the attention to every possible detail ,and the family who provide this environment at Vechio Assilo, will never be forgotten. After 4 days ,we were incredibly sad to leave. It felt like we were leaving friends who had put their heart and soul in to making each guest, including us, feel like royalty!!
Guido is so charming and genuine and his mum and brother are exactly the same. Once we had left, we can honestly say we missed being there! And anything from that time on was pale in comparison to Vechio Assilo. San Gimignano, just 6 kms away, and such a beautiful and short drive has many fabuous eating places and our time spent there on warm summer nights, is locked in our memories forever.
The breakfasts were amazing and so thoughtfully prepared and served. If we went again we would quite simply stay at Vecchio Assilo the whole time and just travel to the sites we wanted to see. Do yourselves a favour, stop looking and book yourself in to this unique and special place - you will not be disappointed ...and you will never find another like it in all the world! Thankyou Guido... and your wonderful Mother and brother John ( Sorry John... we did not want to spell your name incorrectly so we used the English version of your name, as Guido had mentioned)

What an amazing place! Just like many other reviews we read about Hotel Vecchio Asilo, we wondered if it would live up to all the raves. Well, it did, and then some! It was our favorite stop on our week through Italy. The room was comfortable and spotless, breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning, and Guido couldn't have been more helpful. Any question we had, he had an answer, along with a map, and great reccomendations (especially area restaurants!) We can't wait to go back!

We stayed at Vecchio Asilo for 4 nights and were more than satisfied.

The room was spacious, nicely decorated (fresh flowers even in the bathroom!) and I'd say one of the cleanest hotel rooms I've seen so far. Bathroom - also absolutely flawless, breakfast was GREAT and the Capezzuoli family are really special! Guido puts a lot of effort into this business and really makes you feel welcome and at home.

I'd recommend this hotel any time and will definately come back!

“Charm and Service Extraordinaire”

Hotel Vecchio Asilo

All of the reviews that describe Guido's family hotel as superior are accurate. The service provided by Guido is truly remarkable. The rooms are very charming - crisp, white linens, spotlessly clean room, modern bathroom. A special treat is the breakfast - fresh baking and wonderful fruit dishes prepared by Guido's mother and brother.
Guido did tell us that Room #1 had potential to be a little less private due to its location in the front of the hotel overlooking the road. As long as the windows were closed this was not a major issue and the good news was that the traffic stopped after 11pm until 6 or 6:30am. In future we will book earlier and ask for a room in the back of the hotel.

If you are planning a trip to San Gimignano this is an excellent base. The village has one small frattoria for simple pizza and there is a small grocery store - everything one needs for snacks and drinks.

We can't say enough about our favorite stay throughout our 3 week trip to Europe. Many hoteliers could learn about service from Guido and his family - they are gems!

Where do I begin? We stayed four nights at Hotel Vecchio Asilo in May and would have loved to have stayed much longer. Guido and his family are most accommodating and thoughtful. It seems they thought of what we needed before we knew we needed it. Fresh flowers in all the rooms, outstanding breakfasts with a different kind of coffee cake each morning, great suggestions for restaurants and interesting conversations. The location is outside of San Gimiganon and we used it as a base to see Greve, Siena, Volterra and other Tuscan hill areas. What an amazing experience! Thank you so much!!!!
