I took my girlfriend here for a long weekend birthday surprise in the middle of June.
Transfer
From the airport all trains stop at Geneva main station.
Tickets are about £5 for 2 singles.
Location
The location is very good, halfway between the railway station and the lake, a 5 minute walk to both.
Situated on a square there are restaurants and cafes close by.
Hotel
The hotel has a timber chalet décor to the lobby, reception and rooms, quite cosy and very different from a typical hotel (which is why I chose it).
Room
We stayed in room 726 which was on the top floor and had a view of the Jet d’Eau. We had a large comfortable double bed, table and chairs, lots of storage space, mini bar and TV. The bathroom was fine with the usual toiletries included. For tea/coffee facilities there was an additional charge of 12 Swiss Francs.
The room can get quite warm if the weathers nice and the air con doesn’t seem to be at its best.
Restaurant
The restaurant at the hotel looks great and has real character. There’s entertainment with 2 guys playing the accordion, guitar and alp horn which is a nice touch.
We had a starter followed by fondue with 2 bottles of wine for about £80. The food and service was great and we both had a really nice evening.
Staff
The staff at reception and in the restaurant are extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
The hotel and room were kept very clean at all times.
Misc.
- A public transport pass for the trams and buses is given to you on arrival.
- All waiters, shop keepers, etc speak English if your French isn’t up to much.
Overall
I would recommend this hotel as it’s clean, comfortable, has efficient staff, and is in a good location. I would recommend dining at the hotel for at least 1 night.
