“5* Excellence”

Class Hotel in a perfect location in the small but beautiful town of Gstaad.

This is one of those rare hotels where the website actually does the hotel justice.

The rooms are contemporary with all the mod-cons and modern bathrooms. Food is superb. Great breakfasts and wonderful 4 course dinners.

Ski shop onsite and ski bus service to all the local ski lifts.

Overall it was the service of all the staff that impressed me the most. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a warm smile... 5* Class!!!

I will return!!

Grand Hotel Bellevue

The staff, food and spa were all excellent and we had a really enjoyable stay. I travel a great deal and usually find one thing or another can let down even the highest rated of hotels: not so here, it was fautless!

“Excellent small luxury hotel in Gstaad”

Grand Hotel Bellevue

Dec 25, 2007

We stayed at the Bellevue for 5 nights in late December and thought it was an excellent experience overall. The hotel is only a few steps from the main shopping street in the small village of Gstaad. Gstaad itself is an adorable, upscale Swiss village with an ice rink in the middle of town and lots of shops including a Coop grocery/department store, lots of good restaurants and the usual designer boutiques.Any and all needs for skiing can be bought/rented here with no problem.

The skiing /snowboarding is great and we were lucky during our stay to have lots of snow and gorgeous weather. Ski teachers for the kids were wonderful. My son age 17 snowboarded all over the area and especially loved the Glacier 3000 area. The concierge Olivier arranged everything with a smile.

The Bellevue is small (57 rooms) and has been redone in a funky but elegant asian style that is really striking. The junior suite was a bit crowded for two and the double room was even smaller, but the bathrooms are beautiful and well appointed. Bulgari soaps and other products are very nice. Lots of closet space but the junior suite was too crowded even for room service to bring in a table without moving the furniture. I would have liked a better sitting area in the room, but really there was no extra space. There is a desk area with one chair behind the bed , but there is nowhere to sit comfortably to read a book. The two armchairs were attractive but uncomfortable. Whille these are things I didn't like about the room, I still thought it was well done and comfortable overall.

The spa is very nice. I had a great facial and hot stones massage. Nice pool, sauna is naked coed only (I didn't go!), workout room small but well equipped. All satisfactory.

Breakfast is typical Swiss - great rolls, butter, jam, fresh orange juice and coffee or hot chocolate. Ate in both restaurants and enjoyed our meals. Room service is limited but good enough.
Ate at Le Chesery one night which was very good and had fondu at the Rossli which was very Swiss and fun. Had good lunches in the various tearrooms/confiseries around town.

The Palace Hotel is much bigger and more glitzy and is located up the hill from the village. From all I have heard, it is much more snooty but there is more going on at night. We liked the Bellevue for being without pretension and somewhat laid back, but well run and elegant.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we ever return to Gstaad. It would also be fun to be there in summer. Lots of hiking and the mountains are of course beautiful. There are, however, so many other choices for skiing in Switzerland that we might have to try another place next time. If you do come to gstaad, the Bellevue is an excellent choice.

“Great Hotel / Great Service / Great Spa”

Grand Hotel Bellevue

5 of 5 stars
Temecula, California
Sep 9, 2007

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Bellevue on Aug. 29, 2007.
When we checked in, the staff was so kind and helpful. As they were getting ready to show us to our room, the lady handed me a beautiful rose. Once we got to our room, there was a vase for the rose to go into. There was also a platter of fresh fruit ready for us to eat - complimentary. We also had bottled water next to our bed - also complimentary.
The hotel is very centrally located. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and shopping street.
We spent some time in the Spa area. It is for men & women (co-ed) and the facility is superb!! The pool & jacuzzi are upstairs and are beautiful. When you go down, there is an entire area for saunas. There were many kinds to choose from, steam rooms, saunas, ice-cold rooms, and several others to choose from. There is also an exercise room.
I would definitely recommend this hotel - and if I ever go back to this area, I would happily make reservations here. You will not be disappointed!

“There's a reason it's number one in Gstaad”

Simply wonderful. The old hotel is modernized in such a beautiful way, using all the finest material throughout the hotel. Rooms are spacious and gorgeous. We had an enormous plasma tv in our room. The sitting area was large and attractively decorated in a modern style. The lighting was perfect and the honey colored hardwood floor complemented the decor. The bathroom was very stylish with candles and other nice touches. Our bathroom had a large bathtub and crystal encased shower.

The spa is outstanding--almost oriental in its look and feel. The workout facility and pool are very nice but nothing to write home about.

The two restaurants, Prado and Coelho, are both excellent. Should be Michelin star restaurants. Additionally the 911 Bar is cool and great fun.

The gardens are beautifully manicured and are in keeping with the hotel's 5 star.

The service was excellent. All the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

We loved Gstaad. It was a cut above the other mountain resorts that we have visited over the years. The restaurants are excellent and the architecture is gorgeous and homey. Make sure and eat at the Michelin starred Chesery Restaurant. It was so nice to finally find a Michelin star restaurant that didn't have insufferable attitude.

Try the Bellevue. I know you'll love it.
