My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Eiger on Dec 1 and 2. The room was large and we had a wonderful view over the train station to the Eiger and other peaks. This hotel is 10 feet from the train station which at first I thought might be a problem, but it turned out well because it was incredibly convenient and the trains are not noisy or ugly, as is often the case in the USA. It was fun to watch the trains come and go from the balcony, and the mountain scenery was incredible. I spent the second morning watching the fog move slowly through the valley and across the peaks creating one picturesque scene after another. We ate in the restaurant one night and enjoyed the food a lot. Breakfast was included and was basic, just a few cheeses and bread, juice, coffee, tea. The staff was wonderful. I found them friendly and welcoming. My only negative comment is that the room was very simply decorated. I was disappointed that it did not have more of a "Swiss mountain town" decor. Just to look at the room, it could have been anywhere. It was rather beige and bland. But I recommend this hotel, especially if you want to be near the train station. If you can pay a bit more for a room with a view, do it. It's amazing.

We loved this hotel. It was very convenient location. It is right across the street from the train station. It is great for families. The room is very large. The view is spectacular. The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good too. Fresh fruit salad, fresh bread, all very tastey.

My husband, myself, and our three year old son stayed at the Hotel Eiger in October 2004. It was the second time we stayed at this hotel. Our first time was in October 2000 when I was pregnant with our son. The hotel is rated 3 star which is very accurate. We chose this hotel again because of the great experience we had the first time. The hotel is located right next to the train station but there is little to no noise from the ongoing trains. Do not worry! The views from most rooms are spectacular. The restaurant in the hotel is outstanding and I would rate it a 4 star. It is a traditional Swiss restaurant and quite beautiful inside. If you are worried about having children in a nice restaurant you can opt to sit in the more casual side of the restaurant. The breakfast is wonderful, so have it included with the room. It is worth it! The rooms are nothing special but very clean and well maintained. The owner Karl shared with us that he will be updating the rooms as his next project. After we left in 2000 the hotel rewired the entire hotel for internet access. We just love the hospitality of Karl and Suzanne Fuchs. They are true professionals and care about your comfort. I have never seen a couple work so hard! There is a lobby/livingroom area in the hotel where they have two huge baskets of Legos. Every night we watched TV or videos while our little boy built things for hours. Most of the videos in their library are not in English, so I suggest you bring your own if you have children and would like to watch a video in English. This was a special place to bring our son since I was pregnant with him the first time we stayed there. October has been a great month for us to travel there because there are no crowds. I highly recommend this hotel. Check out their great website.
