“Good location”

Eurostars Grand Place

Mar 3, 2008

Great location. On a fairly drab block, but the beautiful and interesting is within easy walking distance. This is primarily a business traveler hotel, which means:
- little character
- steep charges for services like Internet access
- professional staff, but more equipped to recommend expensive restaurants than cozy local joints
- pricey breakfast that looked pretty mediocre
- well appointed, clean rooms with safes

That said, had a great stay and would return. I lucked out and got an excellent rate, though I don't think I would pay the regular price. I would rather stay somewhere with some character.

“Maybe not really 4* but still a good find...”

Eurostars Grand Place

Feb 17, 2008

Couple in early 30s on short city break to Brussels and Bruges.

We picked this hotel after a little research on this site and a little investigation into what deals were out there. We've just returned and all in all are pretty happy with what we found.

When we booked we requested a room with an external window and were pleased we did. Initially it seemed as though traffic noise might be a problem but thick curtain liners solved that.

Staff we friendly enough but clearly wouldn't go out of their way to solve difficult questions. For instance, if you want to know anything about train times/possible prices, you're on your own - they wont make a call.

Location was perfect for us - close enough to everything, 5 Euro taxi from Brussels Midi, short walk to Grand Place, close to the bars and restaurants (try Neuf Et Voisins for cheap, good food in a great atmosphere). Then again, Brussels isn't huge so I wouldn't worry about this too much.

Breakfast was above average - the usual croissants/pain au choc plus cereal, bread, cheese, ham, fruit. Also had some hot food - scrambled eggs and bacon-wrapped frankfurters while we were there.

The beds are shockingly firm, but I like that so I was ok!

Finally be warned - it seems that pickpockets are everywhere in Brussels and Bruges. We were targeted twice in the space of 2 hours. Watch your belongings very carefully.

“Nice hotel but not 4 star!”

Eurostars Grand Place

3 of 5 stars
West of Ireland
Feb 3, 2008

Hotel was nice, clean, good location just a walk away from the main square, but by no means did it feel like a 4 star hotel. Price was only so so for what you got. Staff were nice, but on the morning of check out, the member of staff that was checking me out was so slow. There was a queue of people waiting to check out, one woman got quite annoyed with him, but it didn't seem to phase him at all! He just continued slowly checking us out at a snail's pace. One major problem I had, which has actually stopped me from going back, is the beds.......rock hard. It's hard enough to sleep in a hotel most of the time, but it just made it that bit more difficult. I don't want to be too negative as I actually like the hotel.....if it wasn't for the beds!

“An okay hotel in Brussels”

Eurostars Grand Place

Sep 30, 2007

We stayed in the Eurostars Brussels for two nights in September for a weekend trip to Brussels. The hotel is about average. The best thing about it is the location - if you are staying in Brussels the weekend it is a stone's throw away from the main square and shopping area. The staff were friendly and the breakfast adequate.

On the downside the room was quite small (and hot, although the air conditioning thankfully worked) and little things like the remote control and the safe in the room didn't work, which annoy you when you are paying four star prices.

I don't have any hotels in Brussels to compare this one to, since this was our only trip. The hotel is bascially okay - but don't expect any frills and I thought it fell below the four star rating it was advertised as.
