My husband and I recently stayed at the Ledra Marriot while on a trip for business and pleasure to Athens.
Check-in was a breeze. We received our request of a room with a view... which is a view of the Acropolis from the balcony! We were walked to our room and then shown a map where all the big sites were. We even got a letter for a free bottle of wine, I think because we are Silver Rewards members. I don't think I have had such a welcoming reception at a hotel.
The room faced the busy street, but the noise never bothered us, as the sliding doors are doubled. The room was what is expected in a Marriott. Comfortable bed. Desk. Lounge chair. Balcony. Bathroom amenities were nice. The clothesline in the bathroom was also helpful.
The main downside of this hotel is its location. It is not within walking distance of the tourist attractions. The walk to the nearest Metro station is about a 15 minute walk down a busy, unpleasant street. There is a free shuttle to the city center which leaves once an hour, but the hours are limited. We used the shuttle once, but used the metro + walking and taxis the rest of the time, because of the schedule of the shuttle. I would recommend getting a taxi to the hotel upon arrival if you have luggage.
The room service was adequate. We went for an afternoon snack at the award winning restaurant in the basement. The ambiance was nice... tropical, like being in Hawaii... and the sushi was good.... but our afternoon snack cost us over 60 euro!!! I'd hate to see what it would have been for a whole meal! Overall, I can get good sushi much cheaper at home, and would save my money for some authentic Greek food while in Athens!
Although we never got in the pool, the view from the pool deck was amazing of the Acropolis. There is also na well-stocked mini-bar that even has souviners, if you forgot to buy for someone!
The hotel held our bags for us while we went to Santorini for 2 days... nice touch! It was nice to just take our backpacks, instead of all our luggage.
One note~ if you get the room rate that includes Acropolis tickets, don't forget to get reimbursed. In our hurry to catch a ferry when we checked out, we forgot to do this. I tried to get reimbured when we returned for our bags, but they refused.
Overall, I would probably stay here again, although I might try somewhere closer to the city center now that I am more familiar with the city.
