“Not too bad, considering.”

I don't really know what to say- I have very mixed thoughts on this hotel.
ROOMS: I had a single room which was extremely small, but then so are most rooms here and in Europe. It was pretty quiet- the room faced an internal square which housed a very, very noisy shopping centre- loud music until 10pm every night. When the music stopped, the room was quiet though. The tiny bathroom was awful- only a small shower with only warm water. The bed and pillows were really, really comfortable- but if you don't like a soft bed and pillow, you may not enjoy it as much.
BREAKFAST: Was amazing- the selection and the quality was really, really great. However, they did not have enough tables for guests, so at rush hour, you had to wait for up to half an hour or so for a table. I ended up making a take-away sandwich a few times.
SERVICE: The service was not so bad. I did not have one bad experience with Swedish people generally though, so I am really impressed with everyone (after coming from Dubai, everyone here was SO friendly and helpful!). There is free in-room internet which is also a huge bonus.
LOCATION: The location is great- you really couldn't ask for better. Everything is within walking distance and there are a number of really nice restaurants about.
STOCKHOLM: Is really expensive! I knew it would be, but was still shocked. Although, I have to say it is not much more expensive than Germany. It is very pretty, the people are really very friendly and speak fantastic English, the shopping is OK but nothing spectacular. While I enjoyed my stay there, I am not certain that I would return. Who knows??

“Great location, clean and modern, reviews here proved accurate.”

I read all of the reviews here on TripAdvisor before booking the hotel for our weekend in Stockholm. I found the information provided to be accurate in describing the pros and cons of this hotel. The Rica Kungsgatan is in a great location close to the shops on Drottninggatan and the bars restaurants and clubs on Kungsgatan. The Gamla Stan is a nice 25 minute walk down Drottninggatan. The hotel is also half a block away from the Hotorget subway station with direct trains to Gamla Stan and Soderhalm among others.

The rooms were clean, modern and functional with comfortable beds. The rooms are quite small and as mentioned here, the plumbing system in the hotel is quite noisy. If you are a light sleeper this may be a problem. I was aware from this website that some rooms have no windows and we made sure to ask for a room with a window. The hotel were quite accomodating on this request. There was also free internet access in the reception.

Overall we were very happy with the Rica Kungsgatan. The location is superb for the price and the hotel is well run. It does exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak. We knew that we wouldnot spend much time in the room and there was no reason to spend more.

“Wonderful hotel!”

Rica Hotel Kungsgatan

We were in Stockholm for the football International Euro '08 qualifier V Northern Ireland and chose the Rica Kungsgatan (based mainly on the reviews here) as our base.

It is a wonderful hotel, spotlessly clean, with efficient, professional and friendly staff and location wise it was right in the heart of the city.

Our room on the fourth floor (a good size and decorated very tastefully) overlooked the flower and fruit market place and the view was perfect to take in the hustle and bustle of the shopping area. Noise wasn't an issue though.

The hot and cold buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful- breads, cheese, eggs, cold and warm meats, cereal, fruit etc and replenished the quickest I have ever seen-there is even a herring/local delicacy bar for the more adventurous.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again for quality of service and value for money.

Stockholm itself (architecture and culture) is beautiful- the people very helpful and friendly and there is so much to see and do besides ample shopping, sightseeing and socialising.

“Good place to stay...clean & central”

Rica Hotel Kungsgatan

Stayed here for 2 nights (16-18th October). Was in Stockholm for the Northern Ireland v Sweden game & found the hotel to be more than adequate.
Rooms were basic but clean & modern which is all we wanted. Thought that the breakfast was excellent - large selection of hot & cold.
Check in / check out was quick & easy although they did try to charge us for using a bottle of wine (which we hadnt).
Location is very central - especially if you want to shop.
All in all a good place to stay in Stockholm - all you need really.

“Great stay for business travel”

Rica Hotel Kungsgatan

4 of 5 stars
Budapest, Hungary
Sep 17, 2007

I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in March 2007, was in Stockholm for business. Overall liked the hotel, very good for business travelers. The bathroom was very clean, though the floor under the bed was a bit dusty but that didnt bother that much. Breakfast was alright, nothing great, though their cofee was real bad.

The staff was a bit slow at first and not very helpful, but overall we managed to come to an agreement in our disagreement. If you go by car then you will get some headaches to get there first then another headache when you try to park. Now that wasn't that easy at all. I would recommend to avoid this hotel if you go by car, cause parking is quite costly.

There is a market next to the hotel which is open all day. They have some real good fresh fruits there, cheaper then in supermarkets. Also they have some very nice flowers and if you have a room that is overlooking at the market then it can be real enjoyable to open the windows in the morning and hear, smell(dont worry it is not a fish market) the market opening.
