“Great guesthouse in Reykjavik”

This was a great guesthouse. It is located in the Old Town of Reykjavik, but within walking distance of the main streets, as well as the BSI Bus Terminal (which is where you will come into the city from the airport after taking the Flybus). The owner, Evelyn, was very accommodating, even to the point of feeding us breakfast the morning we arrived, even though we had not officially checked in, as well as putting out breakfast at 4:30 AM the day we left before heading to the airport. The breakfast was simple, but good...meat, chease, toast, cereal, juice, and coffee. She was also more than willing to help make reservations/suggestions for different activities and/or local restaurants. Our room was very small, as most European rooms are, but very clean. The bathrooms were not ensuite, but easily accessible. I would definitely recommend staying here, and will stay here again if I ever return to Iceland.

“Great, affordable, friendly and central Guesthouse”

My boyfriend and I spent a weekend in Reykjavik a few weeks ago and after reading other great reviews about Baldursbra decided to stay here. It was much cheaper than all the hotels and we had a large double room with a sink (shared the bathroom with 3 other rooms which was never a problem). We woke Evelyne up at 1am after our transfer with Skybus that dropped us straight at the door. The next morning (after a delicous breakfast of cereal, toast, nutella, meats, cheese and salad - all included!) within half an hour of deciding to rent a car (organised at an amazing price by Evelyne) we were driving up to the Golden Circle - would highly recommend this! The next day we woke up to beautiful sunshine and walked down to the Bus Station where all the tours leave from and decided to go to the South Coast. When returning from our adventures each day it felt like coming home. If you're heading to Reykjavik - this is the best place to stay!

“Excellent establishment”

An excellent value for Iceland and superior service. Evelyn is friendly and helpful and runs a very good business. The location is convenient to walking in the city. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. The breakfast service is outstanding. Evelyn is cheerful and extremely helpful. I stayed here with my family (wife and 2 kids 7 and 11). We reserved the top floor (two rooms with bath) and this worked out beautifully. We will definitely stay here again. Upon arrival in Keflavek airport at 6:00 am, we got the bus into town and they took us to the guesthouse. Evelyn welcomed us for breakfast and our room was available by 10:00 am. This is something to consider when jet lagged. You don't get welcoming service like this just anywhere. As I said, Evelyn was very gracious. Upon departure, she made sure that we had breakfast at 4:00 am and our bus service picked us up to go to the airport at 5:00 am. This is standard practice in Iceland and our trip was very smooth. The only thing that some people might find difficult about the guesthouse is that it is a smoking establishment. I am extremely sensitive to smoke, so it was a bit bothersome at times. I was able to cope and, although I would prefer to live in a smoke-free world, I understand that I cannot always have things my way. In the end, we ventilated our rooms with windows and it was fine. Baldersbra is a fine place to stay in Iceland.

Three of us rented one single and one double room. Both rooms were very clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom we shared. The location is great, just a few blocks from downtown. There is a hot tub and a sauna in the back yard.

Breakfast was very good – meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, fruit, cucumbers, olives, coffee, milk, and juice. We were able to store beer and wine in the fridge. There is BBC World (and others) on satellite TV in the living room.

Evelyne helped us rent a car at a price lower than anything I had seen and we could leave the keys with her when we were done instead of returning it to the office. She also coordinated a horse back ride and our return bus to the airport.

We would definitely stay there again!

Evelyne cant be beat, a dedicated hard working owner always ready to accomodate. We woke her up at 6:00 A.M. the morning of last year's city marathon and she let us in early. She picked us up when we needed a ride, and washed some of our clothes.
Very clean rooms and a short walk to town. We are booked again this June and feel happy , safe & very comfortable going back.
