“Cordial Theatre: Everything We Wanted”

Cordial Theater Hotel

5 of 5 stars
North-East England
Jun 6, 2008

My 24 year old daughter and I (her mum) went to Vienna to see the Lippizaner horses and stayed 6 nights at the Cordial Theatre. We were staggered to find we had not a room, but a complete apartment, including two different rooms for sleeping in. The kitchenette was really useful and the Spar Gourmet supermarket is right opposite the hotel. Buffet breakfast was excellent - large pots of delicious coffee.

We enjoyed the 15 minute walk to the city centre across the Volksgarten and round the Hofburg Palace. We asked for a quiet location and were booked into a room at the back of the hotel - no fine view, but we had a very peaceful time. We booked the trip through 'Austria Travel' and everything was great. I would stay at the Cordial Theatre again without hesitation.

“Very Nice, Helpful Staff, Great Hotel for the Money!”

Cordial Theater Hotel

Theater hotel Salzburg or Cordial Theater Hotel was great.

Older hotel but the staff were excellent, the room had lots of storage was fairly large, small t.v, writing desk, telephone, dining table, kitchenette with small fridge, hot plate, portable fan and hair dryer. Bathroom was a decent size, shower was small. I like firm beds but even for me this bed was a little too firm. I joked saying there had to be a piece of plywood under my sheet! Internet access with our laptop worked fine from our 2nd floor room or you can take your laptop downstairs to the bar area.

The reception employees were excellent to say the least. They called taxi's for us, called a ranch we wanted to visit to go horseback riding that was right outside Salzburg to make reservations. Told us what train to take to get there and even where the closest laundrymat was located so we could wash the smelly horse off our clothes! They did anything we asked of them with a smile. There was a grocery store right across the street for anything we may have needed as well.

The price was great for a small casual, friendly hotel!

“Hidden gem in Vienna”

Cordial Theater Hotel

Jan 23, 2008

We stayed at the Cordial over New Year, we were withing walking distance of the Rathaus and older parts of Vienna. Very friendly and helpful staff especially Sonia on Reception (hope I've remembered her name correctly!). The room was a bit of a surprise, comfortably sleeping three people with one double room upstairs and a fold out sofa bed downstairs. There were great facilities in the room, including a small kitchen area, great storage for luggage as well. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Vienna.

“Very Good value, service, and location”

Cordial Theater Hotel

5 of 5 stars

Jan 3, 2008

For New Year 07/08, We stayed at the Cordial Theaterhotel, Vienna. This hotel is next the famous Josephstrasse Theatre (Beethoven conducted there) in the Josephstrasse district, couple of minutes the Rathaus area of the old city of Vienna. The Ring Strasse is about 5 minutes walk, Hofburg Palace about 15 minutes, and St. Stephen’s Dom about 25 minutes walk. For the less active, tram and underground services operate very close by.

I can not compliment the hotel enough for quality of service and facilities.

The room is actually a two story apartment, fully equipped with hobs and fridge (which serves as a mini bar), dining area, and sofa (which also serves as the second bed). The rooms are centrally heated, which is fully adjustable, and some rooms have a double door which opens out onto a small balcony overlooking a small gardened courtyard. The separate double bedroom is very comfortable and clean with plenty of storage space. If travelling to the hotel, you may want a travel kettle / iron (although there is a trouser press). The shower / bath was very clean, and equipped with a range of soap / washing products as well as a hairdryer.

Breakfast was perhaps the best I’ve experienced across a range of hotels in Germany and Austria. A range of breads, cereals, fruits, cheese’s, fish, juices, and hot bacon, sausage & egg’s. the staff are very polite / friendly, and very eager to please and provide information.

Simply stated, for very good value, and consistency of high quality, the Cordial Theaterhotel in Vienna will be hard to be beat. To the demanding tourist and traveller be assured you’ll be in good hands.

“Good Serviceable Hotel”

Cordial Theater Hotel

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk down a nice street (most of which is closed to traffic) to the center of old town (across the bridge). This was not a problem for us since the walk was nice and there were shops to look at along the way (the hotel is very close to the church where Mozart is buried). I think most hotels in Salzburg are about the same distance away from the downtown because there didn't appear to be any hotels in the old town center. Be sure and take a taxi to the hotel from the train station. It is not within walking distance.

We had a triple room. Two beds were in one room and the third bed was the couch that folded out to make a bed. The couch was in it's own room along with a TV, chair, small kitchen and a dining room table with chairs. The room was quite spacious by European standards. The room had everything we needed. It was clean and well maintained--think Motel 6. The decor was a little out of date. If you're choosing this hotel you're probably looking for the following mix: price, location to sights, decent accomodation. That sums up this hotel. If you're looking for luxury and lots of class you'll need to spend a whole lot more for a room.

The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They let us store our bags after we checked out. They also have free internet access in the lobby for checking emails and surfing the web.

The breakfast that came with the room was pretty good (served in a dining room off the lobby--there was also an outdoor dining patio for good weather). They had an extensive cheese plate, a meat plate, cereals, juices, fruit and an assortment of breads and danishes. I found this assortment of foods to be the standard fair of most of the hotels we stayed at in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Still, I would rank this hotel spread as one of the better ones in terms of selection.

I would stay here again and recommend it to a friend as a decent place to stay.

I booked this hotel through Otel.com
