We had a clean room of adequate, though not large, size. Problems arose with staff at the breakfast buffet. They advertise breakfast as being from 7-9.30,but if you come down any time after 9.10 they make you totally unwelcome and their motivation is to get rid of you ASAP.One staff member greeted my wife on the 2nd morning with the line "You two need to get up earlier so we won't be here clearing up after you". They then rush you out of there by taking plates off your table while you re-visit the buffet for maybe a fruit juice. Also, on 2 of our 7 days the room was not cleaned,so we did not receive fresh towels or toilet roll without asking (twice on one of the days).When I asked at reception about car rental,the man on duty was totally unhelpful. The reception was frequently unmanned and info was sometimes close to impossible to obtain. We are well-travelled and have never before experienced such an inefficient and bad-mannered staff as some of the personnel at this hotel. Certainly will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone ever.

Great hotel, upgrade to the superior room, well worth the money, is more like an apartment than a hotel room.You had a hallway, a living room cum studio with bed, couches television and stand, table, more than enough storage space, iron and ironing board which I thought was a nice touch. Again, a little difficult to find at first as is on a little road parallel to the prom, and we didnt have a car but can see what other reviwers mean about the lack of car parking, seemed a very busy street. Two little gripes. 1) we were on the main road and could be quite nosy - is a pub/club on the opposite corner and we stayed over the weekend. cant imagine this to be a problem during the week but if not request a back room. 2) smelt a little bit funny. A clean smell, just a bit overpowering but this is being really picky. And it was only in the corridors not your room. Bathroom is down the hall and extremely spacious, staff very helpful and close enough to everywhere. Thought was excellent value for money.

Excellent staff service and ammenities. Room had a beautiful view and was upgraded at no cost. Very hard to find however on a tiny street immediately behind the Castle Mona Hotel. On street parking only was adequate but I visited during the off season so things could change. Restaurant was excellent. I'd probably stay again.

Despite what others have said, I felt the Ascot was a good value for money hotel. I was upgraded to an executive double upon arrival at no cost and the staff could not do enough to assist.
The room was large, well decorated and the jacuzzi bath was welcomed at the end of a hard days work!!
If I had to moan about something, it would be.. No car park. Parking in the street is okay if you get there early enough but was busy after 5pm.
One more moan?..ok, £1.15 for a can of coke to go with my vodka! Best nip to the corner shop next time.

I will be using the Ascot for all of my business trips to the IOM from now on. (About 4 times a year)

Food was good, breakfast was hearty and the service was beyond acceptable.
