The experience of Mamma Agata's is one I will never forget. I can't imagine a more perfect setting in a place that is already so beautiful. When booking Mamma Agata's cooking class, I was hesitant because, being quite young, my husband and I always travel on a tight budget and this was a bit of a splurge for us. However, from the second we walked into their home, I know we had made a wonderful decision.

I have been to Italy numerous times before, but the afternoon I spent with Mamma Agata and her daughter Ciara was something I can't explain. From their warmth and hospitality, to their personal stories and wonderful food, I felt I had truely seen into the lives of the Italian people I had loved so much during all of my past visits. Not only do I have wonderful memories, pictures and recipes from that day, but I think of this family every time I open a bottle of wine or cook an Italian dish. If you choose to visit Mamma Agata on your trip, I promise it will be one of those rare times where your entire group will be living completely in the moment and spirit of Italy.

When I planned my trip to Italy, I desperately wanted to take a cooking class. Our travel agent highly recommended Mamma Agata and I was not disappointed! The dynamic cooking pair of mother and daughter is not only knowledgeable, but entertaining too.

I attended a class in mid June 2008. Our group included people from 4 countries and many different backgrounds. We were warmly welcomed with fresh cappuccino and fresh lemon cake. Our group watched as Mamma and Chiara prepared food in the modest kitchen and we were allowed to sample different foods along the way. Many cooking tips are shared as well as the written recipes for all of the dishes that are prepared. Questions are encouraged both during class and by email after you return home!

The magnificent view of the sea and the lemon grove provides the perfect setting to enjoy hours of food and drink on the terrace. It is a treasured memory that will bring a smile to my face for many years to come.

Mamma and Chiara provide gracious hospitality as they teach how to prepare great tasting, nutritious foods. It's down-home cooking that anyone can do, but tastes oh, so good and is joy to the eye. My husband and I agree that our best meal in all of our 2 weeks in Italy was at Mamma's. It is an all day investment, but it will likely be the best day of your trip. The genuine warmth and love are palpable. I would not hesitate to sign up again. My husband would likely beat me to it though, as opportunities like this don't come often.

I am composing this review to try to share my wonderful experience at Mamma Agata's, although I am quite certain that my writing skills will not be able to do it justice.
My husband booked this experience as a suprise for me, to start our 17 day vacation on the Amalfi coast towards the end of June 2008. After arriving on an overnight flight into Naples, we were driven to our beautiful hotel (Le Sirenuse) in Positano. We were to wake early the next morning, as we were being driven to Ravello, where I was told that we were going to spend the day sightseeing. As we got closer, he told me that the plans had been altered, and that we were going to spend the day cooking! This was something that I had always really wanted to experience. What a day it turned out to be! Everything that you've read in previous reviews, is absolutely spot on. The setting is truly like a postcard. The welcome could not have been warmer. The home grown ingredients combined with the expertise of Mamma Agata, made for an unforgettable meal.
My husband, who is truly lost in a kitchen, except for the pathway to and from the fridge, spent the day in Mamma's garden enjoying his book, drinking lots of wine, and sampling all the culinary treats we brought out to him as we were preparing our fantastic lunch. When it was ready, we all sat in their beautiful garden overlooking the bay, enjoying our new friendships, and eating our delicious creations. I have already tried a number of the recipes since our return, and alhough our pool of ingredients is nothing like those available in Amalfi, if my husband's and our friends opinions count for anything, I learnt my lessons well. I've been married for 23 years, and if someone would have told me that someday, my husband's favorite food would include eggplant, I'd never have believed it, but since our return he cannot get enough melanzane parmigianna!
It is a day that I will cherish and never forget, and we've promised ourselves a return to Mamma's (hopefully next year) when we will be bring some friends to share the experience with us.
Mille grazie Mamma and Chiara,
Jo-Ann and Steve

You will eat and drink your way through the secrets to great Italian cooking. My husband and I took the class as a suggestion from our travel agent, and did not know that Chiara and Mamma Agata, who run the class, would become our favorite part of our vacation to the Amalfi Coast and Capri. At first I took a bunch of notes, but then realized that the recipes that you recieve (on paper and on a CD) have all of the tips included. So, I just listened and ate and drank some more. Chiara and Mamma are so delightful. They do not treat this class as a business, but more of a social gathering. I cannot wait to go back there for our next lesson, or to just visit with the family. You leave there wanting to take the entire family with you. I HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone no matter if you cook or not for your favorite experience in The Amalfi Coast.
