“Lovely and a great location”

Villa Nencini

Volterra is one of the nicest and least crowded cities in Tuscany, and we loved our stay at Villa Nencini. We had one of the older rooms, and it was huge, clean and had a well appointed bathroom, lovely tile floors and a large, comfiortable bed. The windows opened up to views of the pool and valley below. Just like a postcard! The innkeepers were efficient, but seemed to understand little to no English. Breakfast was excellent. This hotel is excellent for those with a rental car as they have parkingf, and it is only a short walk to lovely Volterra-a real gem!

“Charming place”

Villa Nencini

We stayed in the older part and appreciated its charm. We had a lovely view. The shower was a fold out, which was odd but ok. Thd furnishings were also a touch dated, but again no big deal. The grounds are very pretty and pool area is nice. We had a spotty meal in the restaurant (great first courses, meat entrees were oily and dry), but enjoyed the incredibly well priced wine list.
The night we were there a large group was staying in the hotel and was quite noisy. Not really the fault of the hotel, but they might stop to think about what a group of twenty or so might do to the atmosphere of their quaint hotel for their other guests.

“Great Value”

Villa Nencini

My wife and I just had a very pleasant time at Villa Nencini. We arrived a bit before one p.m. Although the Villa's restaurant was closed the very kind (and very good) kitchen staff made me a great bowl of pasta (with boar sauce) and my wife a great Tuscan soup. Our room was very nice - good size, clean, as was the bathroom. There is no air conditioning, but with the windows open, there was a nice breeze and easy sleeping. The Villa is a short walk (uphill, but not exasperating) to the center of town. Volterra is a neat city. The town square is one of the nicest in Italy, but don't believe that it is an unkept secret. The day we were there, it was full of French and German tourists.

Hotel Nencini is a charming Tuscan hotel with a great wine cellar and some very nice rooms in the old part of the hotel. The newer rooms in the motel wing lack the charm of the older ones, but they have easy access to the pool and restaurant, which serves traditional Tuscan family meals. The staff are well trained and the place is spotless. It is a short walk to the main part of town, but certainly not out of the way. If you are the least bit out of shape, you will hate this place, but then you probably wouldn't be going to a Tuscan hill town in the first place, would you? We had a terrific room overlooking the hills and spent several wonderful days hiking down to other hill towns. A trip of a lifetime.

“Nice hotel - good value”

We had a quad room next to the pool. The hotel offers very good value for money, the pool area is nice, clean and well maintained and there is a beautiful view. The staff is friendly and the hotel can be recommended if you come by car, it is located just outside the old city. Would definitely go back.
