the room at the top has got the best view from any hotel room i have ever stayed in, take a good set of binoculars and some earplugs because the bell in the bell tower is not forgiving even when you have a hangover (every morning) execellent courtyard dining area. going back next year.

We stayed at le Beffroi during our 10th wedding anniversary trip and it was one of the highlights of the entire vacation. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was wonderful, and the rooms were charming. The view from our room near the bell tower was breathtaking but we did hear the bell toll all night! That was the only downside. This incredible B&B situated in such a picturesque medieval town is not to be missed!

This hotel is for the hopeless romantics! Rooms are quaint, full of character, spotless and the view is simply priceless. I stayed in the "Provencale" room, which was huge. Toilets are modern, though a little small. Dinner at the restaurant is something to be remembered. Although not recommended by many guide books, the food is exceptional and the wine is remarkable. Natalie, who helps manage the place, is friendly, kind and attempts to help in every way she can. If you are planning to cycle in the region, call/write in advance for assistance. Natalie goes out of her way to make sure her guests are well taken care of. I have never visited a country/city/town twice in my years of travel. Vaison La Romaine and Le Beffroi will be an exception.... Sue, Singapore

The Hotel Le Beffroi (belfry) is charming. We just spent three nights there and began missing it our first night elsewhere. The hotel is located in the medieval hill town of Vaison la Romaine. To reach the hotel one must drive through narrow gates and up steep cobblestone streets that are closed to all cars but those overnighting. A bit scary the first time but the pay off is a quiet night's sleep with windows wide open in a movie-set setting. The staff is courteous and multilingual. The bedrooms are large, airy, nicely decorated, and spotless. The dining room is not gourmet but very good and their winelist is local and excellent. The weekly market (each Tuesday morning) is fabulous and makes this an ideal point from which to explore Provence. We found Avignon and Arles packed with tour buses and hustlers, while Vaison and neighboring towns north of the hubbub were quiet and authentic. For the real Provence, stay at this hotel!
