We ended our daylong tour of the Ring of Kerry at the Oldchurch House B&B in Kenmare.
The house is easy to find and conveniently located, just on the outskirts of town.
Our hostess welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room, which was spacious indeed. It was easily double the size of some other B&Bs we stayed in, and the bathroom was sizable as well. The rooms were execptionally clean and tidy.
There was a television in the room, as well as a selection of magazines. Just outside our bedroom door, there was a bookshelf packed with paperbacks, with the helpful "Leave a book, take a book" sign. (Ahh, heaven for a bookworm like me.)
Breakfast was tasty and filling. We began with the usual assortment of breads and cereals, and then were offered a cooked breakfast. Not being fans of breakfast meats, we passed on the traditional Irish breakfast, but we instead requested just some poached and scrambled eggs. We dined at a large table with some fellow Americans, and we chatted pleasantly over breakfast about our respective travels.
Overall, our hostess was very welcoming, if not overly chatty, and the house was peaceful and quiet - just what we needed at the end of a long day.
