“Hilton”

The Hilton Rhodes Resort is one of the few chain resorts I saw on the island of Rhodes. It lives up to the Hilton name, but if you are planning your vacation based on Hilton resorts, you are better off going to the Hilton Malta, Hilton Eilat Queen of Sheba, or one of the Sinai resorts. I found that the hotel was more four star than five star. The weather in Rhodes during the May/June months is nice but not as nice as you would find at the other resorts I listed which are also cheaper because of a strong Euro.

The hotel itself is near the beach (seperated by a street, but with a tunnel connecting them), though the beach is not sandy rather rocky. The hotel is on a hill making it annoying to switch elevators all the time to go from the room to the pool. Some of the rooms face the mountain and not the beach so I can immagine they are not very nice. The hotel has three pools though the indoor one was quite bland and nobody used it because it was noisy and I believe costs money to use because it is in the "spa". The outdoor main pool was lovely, and so was the presentation of the meals, though I didn't eat. I was shocked though that during meals if you wanted to drink you had to pay for it. No free water, everything costs money. All in all the hotel was okay, but because of the price and the overall feel of the area, I would not book again and you shouldn't book Rhodes unless it is for a short time.

“Overpriced, but some positives as well”

Booked this hotel as I wanted a good "Hilton quality" stay. The problem with this hotel is that they charge Hilton prices while not quite living up to the standards.

First of all there are some problems like leaking roofs, rust and peeling wallpaper. Secondly, the beds are not Hilton beds but some cheap ones and really hard to sleep in. Thirdly there are missing amenities like no irons, tea/coffee makers or skin lotion in your rooms. We did have bathrobes, beach towels and slippers, though.

There is a refurbishment coming, but it may only concern the rooms(?)

There were some positives as well. The staff was nice and there were always also some Scandinavians in the reception. The breakfast was a real Hilton breakfast with some new items every morning and always including sparkling wine. There are nice pools (even an indoor pool) and an easy access to the beach through a tunnel. There were good activities for the children and a nice ice cream bar by the pool. There's an ok gym and sauna - free for Hhonors status members.

Unfortunately you need a taxi to get into the town of Rhodes. Still, we were quite satisfied with our stay although I wouldn't pay quite as much the next time - even with refurbished rooms.

“5 Star ?....I Don't think so !”

Hilton Rhodes

I stayed here with my family in August 2007 and found the hotel to be unrecognisable from what was described in the holiday brochures.

This is no where near 5 star standard and I gather from other reviews on here that it is due for a total refurbishment sometime later in 2007, however that does not detract from the fact that as it stands now, the holtel is below 5 star standard and people should be warned and the price of the hotel costed for that.

Firstly my room was mediocre to say the least. Carpets were stained with who knows what and freyed as well. The furniture was cheap wood veneer and chipped in places to reveal splintered edges. Even outside the room, the hall area was in a similar state with stains and curled edges and lumps and bumps down the corridors. By the lift area there was wallpaper peeling off the wall which looked plain unsightly and an embarressment to the Hilton chain (are they aware of the condition ?....I guess they are if a refurb has been called for (not before time if you ask me). The management can easily fix things like this by getting rid of the wallparer (which only covers parts of the hall wall in anycase) and replace it with fresh paint. Easily maintanable I would have thought.

The pool which was fairly nice had the unfortunate addition of loud, pumping euro disco music going. I thought I was staying in a club 18-30 resort for a while as the staff were frequently coming around asking if we wanted to play pool game.
If I wanted to, I would have made myself available.
I might sound grumpy but in all hotels of this standard I have stayed in before, the focus has been on customer relaxtion first (and that means letting me chose whether or not I want to listen to music or not). Yes there was another pool on the 6th floor I believe, but if you have kids with you, they want to go where there is more than just a square pool, which is where the lagoon pool comes into it's own, but at the expense of others it would appear.

Overall this is sub standard quality and I would not recommend it to anyone. Whether it changes after the refurb is another matter, but if the management of it remains as is, then it will not be long before it declines into disrepair and sub standard again (even if it does take a few years to get that way again).

Think before you part with your money is my opinion.

“Don't Stay At The Hilton”

Hilton Rhodes

What can I say..? Horrible!
I stayed there for a week and every single day I wanted to cancel the holiday (the island was terrible, too, just rocks, nothing interesting to do, boring, boring, boring, probably it's for retired seniors!)
The bed sheets and the towels were old and had HOLES in them! Yes, in a 5 stars hotel! The bathroom looked almost like a public one, the smell of the toilet canal was horrible.
I booked a sea view room, but guess what - no sea!
And for this "luxuriant " :( stay, they blocked a guarantee of 600 EUR from my credit card (I still have this money blocked, after one month and a half). Like I wanted to steal something from their disgusting hotel!
Guys, think again before booking a trip to Rhodes or before staying at the Hilton! I didn't want to believe all the bad reviews before leaving and I payed for it!

“Fantastic Hotel with great staff”

Hilton Rhodes

Sep 28, 2007
2/2 found this review helpful

We stayed at the hotel in September with our 2 small children. On arrival during the early hours of the morning we were greeted by very cheerful night staff and shown to our 8th floor room with sea view. The room was very large, clean and had a superb view. Our room was serviced to a very high standard on a daily basis and the housekeeping staff were wonderful, paying extra attention to the children. The food in the hotel was fantastic - the fine dining restaurant has to be one of the highlights of our holiday. The pool area is great for kids and was nice and quiet. The area itself is OK with a few shops nearby and a nice restaurant called Coconuts.

All in all a fantastic holiday which was made even better by the helpful and friendly staff - we would definately return again.
