Glenferrie Lodge I stayed there on the 16th through to 19th March 2008 and was pleasently suprised, The room was as basic as it gets, but clean and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and no problems with the broadband which was the cheapest I came across.

I enjoyed my stay there so much I tried to return there at the end of my trip sadly without sucess

It is located in a quiet leafy suburb but just a short ferry trip across to Circular Quay and central Sydney, it is also near the bridge which can be walked over to the city, though I'd take the ferry.

Don't expect five star it isn't but I'll go again, hopefully soon

Our first accommodation on our first trip to Australia was entirely positive and welcoming. Travelling to Glenferrie Lodge straight from airport by train (very easy) had already had stunning views of the Opera House and Bridge by time we got there!

Hoping just to leave our cases until official check in time, were very pleasantly surprised to be greeted with ' no worrries', cup of tea, speedy clean up arranged of our room so we could have it straight away several hours early.

Loved the old style, peaceful oasis of Glenferrieand its garden, but so easy to reach all parts of Sydney and beyond. Just a few minutes walk to station or ferry. Lovely location just over the bridge, with views over the water. Staff very helpful answering questions (which must hear a million times).

Accommodation not luxury, but very clean with everything you need for a base. Breakfast included, and was great. Delicious food, varied and something for everyone. (Scrambled eggs excellent - many places can only serve them like rubber.)

Unfortunately were never there to take advantage of evening meal but menu looked really good.

Overall, very good value for money and very enjoyable start to our Australian trip. Set the tone for a wonderful holiday.

Tiny rooms and tiny shared bathrooms, no air con, rooms are not serviced, staff are not very helpful, lots of stairs. I stayed for a week, some nights it was very noisy. Surprisingly the breakfast was good.

Its a good backpackers hotel....but not much to offer older travellers or families.

We had a concert at Luna Park to go to so this was the cheapest and closest accomodation we could find.. Seeing it was a 3 star hotel with shared bathrooms for around $80 a night, we really didnt expect much - however we were so pleasently surprised.

Greeted with a big friendly smile, nice room with balcony.. Sure the shared bathrooms were for female and male which was strange but one night didnt matter in the slightest. The breakfast was unbelieveable!! Sooo tasty...

So to sum it all up - great location, great price, great breakfast, great place to stay - i'd def stay there again, even the novelty of having kirabillie house a few doors down was great..
