“My favourite hotel in Melbourne”

Park Hyatt Melbourne

I'm a public speaker and my tours can be really grueling. Between my business needs and need for good food, good service, good bed when I'm tired and trying to keep going, I'm really picky.

I stay at the Park Hyatt on all of my trips to Melbourne and have never been disappointed. The rooms are great. The bathrooms are a major treat - I love soaking my weary bones in the giant bathtubs while watching mind numbing television at the end of a hard day.

I have never experienced anything but the best service from the Park Hyatt Melbourne. The food is excellent and the room service timely and lots of selection. It feels like a home away from home.

I mostly stay for business, but have stayed with my family - including pre-school daughter - and had a great time. There is heaps of room for a rollaway bed in the rooms and it is close to lots of parks, museums, restaurants, and the Aquarium. They have a great kids menu and are very helpful with local, kid-friendly advice. Disneyland it's not, but we certainly felt welcome and had plenty to do.

Highly recommended.

“Very Luxurious, overpriced”

Park Hyatt Melbourne

We stayed here for business back in July and were very impressed. The foyer is amazing as were the staff. We stayed in a king spa suite which was really gorgeous. We had a warm and welcoming room with a marble bathroom that had a tv built in next to the spa. A big shower and leading out onto the oversized closet and a little kitchenette. The location of the hotel was good but not great. it was a long walk to get to the big shops like myer and DJ's so we just got a cab for $5 which suited us well. The buffet breakfast was great, a huge selection of food and drinks included in the price. it was not only until checkout that i saw how much the room was as i didn't know because it was a business trip that someone else booked. I thought it was very overpriced expecially since that the decor of the hotel would not suit everyone unless they are into the european look. I just don't see the value in it although it was a top hotel.

“A 3 star hotel with 5 star prices”

Park Hyatt Melbourne

I have stayed at Park Hyatts all over the world but this was my first and last stay at the Park Hyatt Melbourne. The staff are very poorly trained and tended to give incorrect information.

The rooms are OK but nothing special and the rates are generally much higher than the Grand Hyatt which is a much nicer hotel.

One thing to be aware of - the Park Hyatt Car Park is nothing to do with the hotel so you cannot charging the parking to your account.

I complained to the General Manager but only got an acknowledgement of the mistakes that had been made.

“Good but couple of issues”

Park Hyatt Melbourne

4 of 5 stars

This is a beautiful hotel located very close to the city center, in a quiet (apart from the Lutheran church opposite), relaxing setting.

The room I booked was a Park King Suite, which was great. Very large, 3 Tv's(one in the bathroom for viewing in the massive bath). Only one issue was the air con, as it was a centrally controlled system you could not actually turn it off. If you are a light sleeper this will annoy you. I complained about this and had to move room as it was so loud. Management never followed up my complaint the next day either.

The SPA is very nice, indoor pool, jacuzzi and plunge pool. Also you have an outdoor terrace with beds which is great for relaxing.

The bar is downstairs, it is nice enough but a bit out of the way. Also the service here was quite poor, I had to repeat my order several times and even then the service was slow.

Overall: Good location, good SPA and very nice rooms(apart from air con issue), however the service was a bit lacking in some areas.

“More like a Hyatt Regency than a Park Hyatt”

Park Hyatt Melbourne

2 of 5 stars
Sydney, Australia

This was my first stay at this property and I was somewhat disappointed. In the past 12 months I have stayed at Park Hyatts in Sydney, Seoul, & Tokyo (all excellent hotels). In my opinion this hotel is nowhere near the same standard as those hotels. In fact, the hotel would be better named "Hyatt Regency Melbourne Hotel and Convention Centre".

It lacks the upscale and intimate atmosphere that a Park Hyatt should have (they are supposed to be at the top of the Hyatt tree). On the weekend I stayed the hotel was full of convention guests and the lobby had trestle tables set-up with all the convention paraphenalia on them.

The service in the lobby lounge was slow and unhelpful. The Club Lounge was closed for Saturday breakfast and the restaurant buffet was only average. The front desk and bell staff were friendly enough but didn't seem particularly professional or well trained.

My Club Deluxe King room was large but gloomy, poorly lit, and looked directly into the building next door (no view). Some of the furnishings were worn and stained.

In my opinion this is an ok Hyatt Regency, but it's no Park Hyatt. I will be staying elsewhere on my next visit to Melbourne.
