"This Hotel is Perfect"
My wife and I stayed 7 nights in a 1 Bedroom Apartment on the 16th floor.The room was Very Spacious with all the mod cons.The king bed very comfortable and views from the room lovely.Room was serviced well each day with plenty extras i.e shampoo coffee etc.
The only complaint we have is the washing machine/dryer it is complicated and had problems drying, we got there in the end though.
I recommend the hotel to all and wish you a happy stay as we would go back here anytime.

My boyfriend and I stayed in a studio suite in early May after reading lots of good reviews. Having arrived off the midnight flight at 6am we were pleasently supprised when we were met by a nice man at the reception and even though we didnt have a booking until 2pm (checkin time) he took our bags to the store room and told us he would try organise a room asap and to call back early. Having an early checkin was great as we needed the sleep and the room was very neat tidy and modern. The bathroom had double sinks which was handy and the kitchen was very impressive for a studio room (inc dishwasher!). The only down side was there wasnt any table or chairs to sit at so anything we ate we had to sit on the bed. We stayed 3nights and the studio room suited us well but if we had of stayed longer I think we would have upgraded to a appartment (its very reasonably priced in comparison to everything else available). Oh and the location was great! walk down the street to the shops, chinatown and the free circle tram. and there is a iga/bottle-o next door to the oaks but be warned prices are a bit of a rip off (and the beer was out of date)

According to the hotel's website, this place opened in November 2007. This is not the place to stay if you are after a traditional hotel with restaurants, gymnasiums, swimming pools or business centres. It has none of those. The Oaks on Lonsdale offers modern, as new fully furnished apartments serviced daily. As you would expect from a near new place, the 1 bedroom apartment I stayed in was modern, clean and in excellent condition. The kitchen is fully equipped with stovetop, oven, microwave, dishwasher and all utensils you would ever need. There is a small IGA store just next door where you can buy essential supplies. The bathroom is the usual shower over bath arrangement and includes a laundry closet with combined washer/drier (washing powder sachets included) and washing tub. King size bed in the bedroom was comfortable, although as others have mentioned the pillows are large and uncomfortable. The pictures on the hotel website are a true representation of what you get. The property is located a 2 minute walk from Parliament station (Lonsdale St entrance) and is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops.
Overall, great value (I paid $149 a night) for a quality apartment.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay in a two bedroom apartment at the Oaks on Lonsdale. We were with another couple and elected to have the two bedroom apartment which was very spacious, modern, clean and had fantastic views from the balcony and both bedrooms.
The Oaks is located very conveniently only a stone's throw from the train and tram tracks which make Melbourne so easy to travel around.
The kitchen was well equipped and spacious however we only made toast there!! Melbourne has too many good restaurants to dine in!!
I was a little dubious about the reception staff after reading some of the previous reviews but was highly impressed by the service offered - they were extremely helpful and looked after us well, especially Nick.
