“Wonderful Kiwi Hosts”

Greatstay Boutique Accommodation

John and Lesley are wonderful hosts at their specially designed home. They were welcoming from the first minute we arrived until waving us farewell in the drive. We stayed in 2 of their rooms as we had our college son with us and this worked out so much better than standard hotel accommodation. Their home is comfortably decorated and we enjoyed full breakfasts each morning. The location is excellent - even without a car we could tour the central area including Cathedral Square, Botanical Garden, etc. But, by far the highlight is visiting with John and Lesley as they seem to genuinely enjoy meeting their guests and helping in any was possible. We truly felt at home and would recommend a stay with them highly.

“A Very Great Stay!”

We stayed with John and Lesley for 2 nights (30 and 31 March 08) on arrival into Christchurch. When I booked Lesley immediately offered to collect us from the airport which was a plus as it meant we did not have to hire a car whilst in CC and as I knew we would be able to see CC primarily by foot it did help. The only thing I would point out is that GreatStay is a good 20-25 min walk across Hagley Park into town. Although during the day this was not an issue (and helped walk off all we ate), it meant in the evenings we had to get a taxi which added up to probably what my car hire for 1 extra day would have cost.

Once we arrived at the B&B, Lesley offered us tea and cheese/biscuits and throughout the stay was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She was very helpful with places to eat for dinner and things to see. Her breakfasts were delicious and I am glad we had the walk!

Our room was the lovely and spacious enough for 2 nights with a very good shower/bathroom. I would certainly stay here again next time we are lucky enough to be in NZ.

“Great Hosts, Great Place”

My wife and I stayed at Greatstay for our final two nights in New Zealand having spent 5 weeks travelling across both North and South Island. John and Lesley made us so welcome. The moment we walked in the door we were greeted with tea and freshly baked cakes and during our whole stay nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is excellent - the modern rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and although it is not far from the city centre, it is in a very quiet area. We enjoyed the walk into Christchurch through Hagley Park and the Botanical Gardens and Lesley gave us lots of ideas of what to see in the city. Coming back each evening really was like coming home to friends. John and Lesley have made their home a super place to stopover and go out of their way to ensure their guests have a relaxing stay. We left NZ on a high note as Greatstay was our best B&B. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed with John and Lesley Ruske last February for 3 wonderful daysSo we stayed with them again this year, we would not stay anywhere else..The welcome from them both is wonderful, you feel more like their friends than guests.Nothing is to much trouble for them and they go to great lengths to make sure your stay is truly a GREATSTAY.The room is of a very high standard, and the breakfast is excellant. We loved the choice and presentation, they go to alot of trouble to make sure you have everything that you need. When we arrived this year we asked where would be the best place to buy sleeping bags, towels, pillows and other camping goods.Straight away they offered us their own equipment which saved us alot of money, again showing us that nothing is to much touble for them. They offer really good value for a first class accomodation and service. We cannot wait to visit again next year.

Not the first time, I have enjoyed the hospitality and excellent facilities, and no difficulty in feeling most comfortable in returning. Very welcoming and warm people. John and Lesley are very helpful in offering information on the attractions of Christchurch and Canterbury. Very comfortable in endorsing Greatstay as a great place to stay.
