We stayed at the Reval in Riga for three nights in June.
I would highly recommend staying here. First off, do not be put off by the scale of this property (it's the biggest building in Riga) or it's corporate feel. Everything functions excellently here. All the staff is efficient and speak English. Just don't expect cheery American style over the top attentiveness, this is Eastern Europe after all.At check in we were offered an upgrade to a larger room on a high floor with views towards the river and old town Riga for an additional 10 Euro per night. We happily accepted this offer. It was well worth it. The rooms are somewhat spartan but nicely done in simple contemporary decor and have very comfortable Scandinavian style beds. The floors are in dark colored Pergo which definitely beats stinky old carpet in my estimation. Although the hotel was packed
we never had to wait long at all for one of the hotels 5 elevators.
The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty to choose from.
Cocktails excellent at the hotel's bar. Location wise I would definitely pick this hotel again over a property situated in the city's
old town. Lots to do around here. Riga's old town while very pretty is rife with working girls and arrogant drunken "Lad" types. Do they need to fly all the way here for a binge vacation?
All in all a great stay in a very beautiful and interesting city.
