“Lovely hotel. Be aware of !5% service charge”

We really enjoyed this hotel, which was in a perfect location for sight seeing. We booked a "single" room for two people which was fine for English people who are used to sharing a standard size double bed. (It seemed that most US "Doubles" have two massive beds, and perhaps you pay more for those?). So we were satisfied with our nice little room, which was relatively inexpensive. The room was very pleasant, and had included complimentary coffee. Staff were very nice. Our only surprise was that when we paid the breakfast bill, a 15% gratuity had already been added, but there was a place to add a higher tip if you wanted! I know that 15% is a typical tip (no pun intended) in the USA, but it was the first time that it was added automatically to any of our bills. But we liked the hotel...

“great location but pick a room that is outward facing”

i booked a 2 night stay at Club Quarters (i have stayed at other CQ's in San Francisco, Houston) and enjoyed the stay. when i arrived the computerised check in placed me in an internal facing room. it was very dark and somber, however i called the front desk and the recep was able to change my room immediatly to a outward facing room, that looked towards the White House (although there was a construction site in the way). the room was quite small, but the bed was comfortable and the facilites were good. the small room was not a problem as i was out and about all day. one of the best elements of the hotel was the terrific restaurant on the premise that served a delicious dinner and a good breakfast at reasoanable rates (which i was able to charge to the room). the location is convenient, but it is good to note that the subway station right next door is closed on the weekends so getting to the subway can be a bit of a walk. overall i would stay there again.

“Good Location”

We stayed here over thanksgiving weekend on our first trip to DC. The location is good. Walking distance to the White House and all major monuments. Check in and check out is all computerized making it fast and easy. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours and they seemed friendly although we didn’t need them for anything except getting us a cab on our way to the airport. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant but it looked decent. The second floor is a business center with 2 computers, TV and newspaper. They were doing some renovations when we stayed there but the hallways weren’t messy.

The room is small compared to other hotel rooms but not too cramped. The hotel is more for the business traveler and it’s apparent when you walk in the room. We were on the top floor and white the view was nice we could hear the people talking next door. Luckily they weren’t up all night but it was kind of strange to hear their whole conversation.

Rooms have a flat screen TV above a computer desk and the WI-Fi works well. Lots of news channels available on the TV.

Housekeeping comes pretty early. We left our room at 10 and they didn’t clean by the time we got back. They were in the hallways at 8:30 and left us some towels I asked for.

Overall it was a good experience. I would stay again if only for the location.

“Great Value and Location”

The location of this hotel is outstanding! It is right across from a Metro station and 2 blocks from the White House and other major sites. The hotel itself was an excellent value especially for its location. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The walls were kind of thin and we could hear the baby that was staying next door, but we live in an apartment in downtown Chicago so we aren’t really bothered by noise. The room was kind of small, but we had a queen sized bed and plenty of room for two people. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They even got us a cab at 4:30 in the morning so we could catch our flight. Considering the low price, we were impressed with the features like a nice fitness center, complimentary bottled water, high speed internet, and high definition television in the rooms. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to DC.

“Very Good Value”

Club Quarters

Aug 31, 2007

I agree with other other recent posts that gave this hotel four stars. My room on the fourth floor overlooked the construction site, but I was out of the hotel early in the morning before the work began, and they stopped working midafternoon. My room, the smallest class available, was fine for one person or two people who don't need a lot of space. I noticed the double bed, which was otherwise comfortable, would probably be too short for someone tall (over 6') who likes to stretch out while sleeping. The place was clean enough. Internet access on the two computers on the second floor went out on one afternoon, but was up again by the evening. Bathroom didn't seem to have a fan.
