Just returned from 3 nights at Embassy Suites Convention Center with my two teenage daughters and myself. It was our first visit to DC.
We checked in early and were given a room on the 15th floor right near the elevator. We had a view only of the building next to us. We never encountered a problem with noise. We had a king suite and my younger daughter slept on the pull-out sofa. It was so nice to be able to spread out in two rooms.
We used the mini-fridge daily to keep our water bottles and fruit cold.
The breakfast was great. It included made-to-order omelets and eggs(had to wait in a bit of a line), ready-made scrambled eggs(the girls did not like them), sausage, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, bagels, muffins, toast, yogurt, cereal, fresh cut and whole fruit, variety of juices, coffee, and tea.
Complimentary cocktails and snacks(chips, cheese and crackers) were served from 5:30-7:30PM. It was crowded but not more than I expected.
The hotel was in a good location(1-2 blocks to Metro Center) and within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. Concierge was always polite and helpful.
My only weak complaint was that the pool was very small and so cloudy that the girls would not use it. I did not either.
We checked out the work-out room which I planned on using, and it looked like there was plenty of equipment. Never actually used it because I was so exhaused from walking all day!
Overall, I would definetly recommend this hotel, especially for families.
