“Great location and great price”

Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C.

We booked this hotel almost solely on the recommendations from this site and were really glad that we did. The location is great (about 25 minutes walk to the White House) and the price is too. The rooms were clean and very spacious, the staff were helpful and polite. Having the living area on the inside of the atrium meant that we weren’t disturbed by the noise of the waterfalls, but if that space was used for sleeping it could be a little noisy. The all-inclusive breakfast was varied and plentiful. It was fine for food to be taken back to rooms. We went down around 8am each day, but noticed that even at 9.30am there still seemed to be plenty of everything. The Manager’s Reception was a great plus. The quality of drinks and snacks wasn’t amazing, but then it is free and we could go back for a second round. The on-site restaurant was fine, but not very exciting. The shop is handy and open until late. The hotel is very family friendly, which might put some people off but we weren’t there to sit around in the hotel so weren’t bothered by the number of children. The pool was pretty small and occupied by lots of children, which was a shame but to be expected. There is a charge for internet access in rooms, but there is a small business centre (3 PCs) and also two PC’s near the elevators, which was fine for the occasional checking of email. We had a really great stay here and would thoroughly recommend it to others.

“Nice Hotel & LOTS OF CHILDREN”

Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C.

4 of 5 stars
Key West
Apr 29, 2008

Was last here in spring of 07. This time it was easter break. LOTS OF CHILDREN!!!! The staff did an amazing job with the F&B for Breakfast and Manager's reception.

The hotel did switch over to compact florescent lighting in the room fixtures. Grade A for effort, but D for execution. They have mixed color types. Some fixtures within the rooms and complete rooms are super nova white (industrial parking garage/spot light) and others are natural soft white. You can tell by looking at the picture windows in the atrium during the evening. They did change my room over to the soft whit when asked, but hopefully this will be delt with soon than later. But given they last five years, I hope they realize the mistake and take the hit.

“Great place to stay if you have kids...”

Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C.

3 of 5 stars
Baldwin, New York
Apr 28, 2008

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during a recent trip to DC. The hotel is located in a nice area with restaurants within walking distance and a drugstore right around the corner.

The breakfast was a definite bonus for a family with 4 children. There was something for everyone to eat. The staff was friendly and seemed very attentive to clearing the tables.

I would agree that there were a lot of children (tweens) mulling about the hotel, but they didn't seem disruptive or poorly behaved.

The pool was pretty crowded. It was tough to find a spot to put our things down, but other hotel guests seemed willing and friendly enough to give up a seat. The kids had a great time.

My husband noted that the parking lot was a few blocks down at the Ritz Carlton lot. This may be a problem for people with difficulty walking.

Overall, our stay here was very pleasant. The rooms were cleaned properly. When I called to request extra towels, pillows, and hangers, the staff was very accommodating.

“What a disappointment”

Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C.

new york metro area

After reading such glowing reviews for this hotel, I was stunned to find what I did. The rooms were run-down and shabby. The carpeting was stained and dirty. The furniture scratched. The cushions and decorative pillows stained. The front desk was rude. And the parking was several blocks from the hotel. Apparently they had met the capacity in their own parking lot, so we had to park in a lot belonging to another hotel. We were not offered a parking discount for this inconvenience. I love kids, I have three of my own, but this hotel was swarming with them. It felt like we were at a 24/7 party at a Chucky Cheese. I can not understand why this hotel is rated so highly.

“Phenominal hotel”

Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C.

I have been staying at Embassy Suites with my parents since I was a little kid but this was my first trip as an adult. It had been a good amount of years and the only memory I had was the giant goldfish in the streams that run through the lobby. Well this trip will be one I will not soon forget.
Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice, and while it is a family hotel the manager's reception every evening is akin to a free 2 hour nightly open bar. By the end of our stay everyone who worked at the breakfast and the manager's reception knew both my name as well as my girlfriend's and our drink orders. Everyone was always nice and smiling and the concierge at the front desk was very knowledgable about the area.
It was nice to have a parking lot where we could park and forget about our car even if it was a little expensive, the free drinks and snacks as well as the free breakfast more than made up for it. Overall, not only a tremendous value but also a beautiful hotel. Even though I am in my mid 20's I partook in the goldfish feeding and had a great time. The metro was a few blocks away and a little confusing to get to the first time but the hotel was in a great location none the less. Highly recomended.
