Amazing hotel, especially for the price! Service was topnotch, they even accomodated my need for a humidiifer. Rooms are spacey and well decorated and even have hook ups for your ipod. The hotel restaurant is very good as well. Ask for the AAA rate even better.
Great location, right by Metro station and many little restaurants nearby. Will stay again for sure!! Highly recommend!
Spouse and I stayed here for 5 nights the 2nd weekend in Nov. 2006. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the decor was very modern/trendy. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there internet access is free, and there's a complimentary wine 'happy hour' from 5-6 every day in the lobby--your choice of red or white and a communal fruit and crackers tray. I also thought the gym was pretty nice--a few treadmills and stairmasters, an exercise bike and free weights. The only problems I had were that the AC stopped working the 2nd day and I had to call 3 times before someone came up to fix it, and the toilet got backed up the last night. However both of these problems were fixed and the staff was always very nice and helpful. Overall it was a really good experience. I'd totally stay here again.
We are just concluding our stay at the exceptional Hotel Palomar. A month previous we stayed at their sister hotel, Hotel George, and had a great experience, too. Upon arriving, we were exhausted after a long drive and were not thrilled with our room (beautiful, but too small). The manager got involved immediately and for a reasonable upcharge, moved us into a huge room with a view. Everything is new and in pristine condition. The decor is chic, but friendly, and the beds and bedding are exquisite! We had six fluffy new pillows, a down filled quilt and a California king bed. The bathrooms are large and gorgeous with granite counter tops and raised bowls sinks. The shower is clean hot and powerful and you are spoiled with L'Occitane spa quality soaps, hair products and lotions. The key to our positive impressions regarding this property is the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. After 4 days, the doormen, porters, front desk manager and hotel manager knew us on a first name basis - all willing to share stories and go out of their way to make us feel special. Finally, the location is ideal, close to Dupont Circle and Georgetown.
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Palomar from Nov. 5-7, 2006, and we were completely pleased by every aspect of the hotel. The lobby, walkways, and rooms are chic, clean, and classically decorated. The bedding was lush and comfortable. The staff members were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the bellman to the front desk to the concierge to the sommelier, we were treated like we were upper class (and we're actually just a middle-class-20-something couple).
We've stayed at the Hotel Rouge and Topaz on previous trips to D.C. and enjoyed our stays there, as well, but the Palomar is by far our favorite and a step above the others. We just got home tonight and already begun booking our next trip to the Palomar for December!
A few of our faves: the complimentary glass (or glasses, if you like) of wine from 5-6 each night in the lobby, the recommendations of restaurants and night life by the staff, the fuzzy blankets on the beds, L'Occitane bath products, and Mimi's across the street. You MUST stay here... it is a fabulous hotel!!
