“Great stay for the price”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Needed a place to stay for four days with my wife and two children while doing Disneyland. We enjoyed the clean, cool room and queen beds. This was formerly a Red Roof Inn and the recent renovation to a Motel 6 was apparent in our room. The paint, carpet, fixtures, and bathroom were all very clean and showed little wear. AC was cold and at night we had to turn it off because the weather outside was mild making the room frosty. It is within walking distance, but take the ART to save your little kids a sleepy walk back to the room. Children 9 and under ride for free. One note about the ART, wait outside the lobby or they will drive off without you. Tickets available in the lobby for those 10 and older at $3 a day.
Ice machines on every floor. Staff was very busy but very courteous. Rooms on first floor numbered in the 100's are poolside and close to lobby and laundry room and may be noisy if pool is busy. Pool was cold on the days we were there but we would warm up in the hot tub. My kids loved both. We could see the fireworks at Disneyland from our second floor balcony. Booked online and will do so again next time.

“Great place, but be cautious of strangers!”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Our family of four stayed in this Motel 6 for four nights. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. After receiving our room keys (actually magnetic cards), we went out to our rental car to retrieve our luggage. Some guys exited the car next to ours and asked us if we had any 'gas money'. As if we were going to fall for that! We politely answered no, but felt somewhat concerned for our safety after that and promptly moved our car to a different location in the parking lot. I think these two guys were actually looking for drug money and decided to prey on tourists. Luckily we did not become victims. The room was on the 3rd floor facing the pool. The room was very clean and well maintained. We did run the fan overnight to mask the pool activity noise, although it was not really that loud. The air conditioner compressor was not working, but was not really needed during the month of May. On the fourth night, the magnetic cards for room entry both stopped working for some reason. The hotel staff promptly gave us new replacement cards which worked well. I would stay here again. Our experience was 'very good' overall. The rates are very competitive and this motel has higher ratings than the nearby Super 8. The location was less than a mile from Disneyland, although we used the A.R.T shuttle to save our legs. The hotel staff sold the shuttle bus tickets to us. The gift shop was well stocked. Great place, but be cautious of strangers.

“Sheets were filthy!”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Checked in late on a Wed night, excited for our following day at Disneyland. Right before tucking our twins in bed I pulled back the sheets and to my horror found a huge pee stain. In my disbelief I bent down and sniffed just to make sure it was not just a stain, but was the real thing. The sheets were not changed from the previous guests. After further inspection, I noticed quite a few hairs as well. The asst manager Eric was extremely nice and apologetic and promptly moved us to another room. He said to check out the new room and notify if we needed anything. To our utter amazement the, with the sheets once again pulled back, there was another stain! This time a little smaller and stinkier, and yes I stuck my face in it one
more time to make sure it was not my imagination. There were several long blonde hairs as well. Again I phoned Eric and he came to our room and once again profusely apologized and again moved us to another room. One that he this time, inspected for us. He made sure it wasn't the same maid as the other 2 rooms. This room was perfect.
All in all they comped our room. Which was really nice however, I can't get over the extreme health hazard. I can only imagine all the other children sleeping in the other dirty sheets. The following day we asked if the maid would be fired and they said they are looing into it, maybe it is a "training issue"....hmmmm. Was a nice hotel otherwise, very close to Disney. Eric, the manager was the really nice part about the hotel. Would stay again, for the price, if I knew
that maid was outta there!

“Great Value for Basic accomadations”

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate

Apr 20, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

We just returned from a trip to Disneyland and stayed at Motel 6 Anaheim ( Formerly Red Roof Inn). The motel provided basic accomadations that were clean and the staff were quite friendly. The location from Disneyland is within an easy walking distance of about 10 minutes. If you so choose the Shuttle picks you up right outside the front door every 20 minutes. The Plus here is that there is only one stop before Disneyland.

They also have a basic pool and hot tub in the centre courtyard which is also clean and great for relaxing after wearing yourself out at the tourist atractions. The only issue is that the motel does not have a restaurant so you need to look elsewhere for breakfast before heading to the park.

Final words...Great Value...allows you to spend money enjoying the more important things you want to experience on your trip.

“A Real Sleeper”

I was really surprized how much I liked this Motel 6. The location and price were excellant. The room was spacious and very clean. The front desk staff (particularly Eric) was nicer and more helpful than many 5 star hotels that I have stayed at. I was also quite pleased with the gift shop located in the lobby. They had everything I was looking for. I will definately stay here again.

The only thing I would ask to be different is the same problem I have with all budget stays - the towels are just too small. I would gladly pay a couple of bucks a night more if the towels could be actual bath towels instead of large hand towels. Note to self - bring your own towel.
