“Cant beat this hotel!!”

We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel for 7 nights from the 10th April 2008. It was our second stay at this hotel and it is fantastic. I really dont know where some of the negative reviews have come from. We are a group of dancers from AUstralia. We had 35 families stay at this hotel and there was not one complaint. The rooms are huge.We had 4 people in each room and there was plenty of space. The proximity to Disneyland and the price of this hotel are its greatest points. The pool area is also fantastic and the laundry was very handy. The staff were all very nice and the room was cleaned well every day. THe huge open grassed areas are great and we never felt unsafe or worried about security. I left my passports and money in my suitcase in the room without problem but they do have safes at the front desk. You really cant beat this hotel. It has everything you need and more and on both occasions we have stayed there (in different areas of the hotel) we never found it unclean. We often stay in 5 star hotels (which this certainly wasnt) and this hotel was just as comfortable if not a little older. It is surrounded by restuarants and was great to come back for a swim and relax from Disneyland before going back later in the evening. THere is a handy shop there selling snacks and souveniers as well as a small restuarant (we didnt eat there though as there are too many other restuarants to try). I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Not terrible, but won't stay again”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

Pluses: Cheap at only $79 per night plus tax for 4 people. ; Very close to Disneyland. I can't overemphasize how nice it is to be able to simply walk back to your hotel whenever you want. ; Attractive grounds with lots of greenery. ; Our room was reasonably large and attractive. ; We had a patio, which was nice when wanting to relax. ; Staff was usually friendly, and never rude. ; The bubbles in the hot tub had a timer that went up to 15 minutes, so you can choose to turn them off if you would prefer. ; Wireless internet was available, and seemed to work fine. ; Fridge included in cost of room. ; The shower head was high enough to be comfortable even for the taller members of our party.

Minuses: The pool looked rather dirty. ; The air conditioner was located in the glass doors of the patio. The drapes are shortened around the AC, but this means that even when the drapes are closed, a bit of light gets in around the AC. ; The AC was located so that the air blows straight into the side of one of the beds, blocking cold air from reaching the rest of the room. ; The water in the bathroom was inconsistent. Sometimes it worked fine, other times there was little to no hot water, and other times it alternated between scalding and freezing mid-shower. ; The bathtub didn't drain properly, so by the end of a shower the water was up to your ankles. Especially annoying when the ladies wanted to shave their legs after a shower. ; The fan in the bathroom did almost nothing to clear the steam. ; Maybe we're just getting old, but all of us twentysomethings on this trip woke up with sore shoulders and backs every day. ; Most of the channels on the TV were fuzzy.

Overall, this was the worst hotel in the Disneyland area I have stayed in recently. It wasn't terrible, and it certainly wasn't bad enough to have ruined our trip, but next time I will be looking into other options.

Notes about extra costs: Wireless internet is available for $9.95 per day, or $49.95 per week. Parking seems to be $4 per day (we were charged $20 for 5 nights). The breakfast buffet is $8.95 per adult, with 1 child under 3 eating free for each paying adult. Unlimited orange juice is included in the cost of breakfast.

“Will stay here again”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

May 5, 2008

We have stayed at this hotel on several family trips to Disneyland. It is an older hotel, but our rooms have always been large, clean, and kept up well. Loved the extra large pool, and gameroom for the kids. Our only complaint was that the ice machines were not working (they have 2 for the entire complex), the desk clerk did offer to get us ice from the restraunt if we needed though. It is a short walk to the front gates of Disneyland, and the cost was significantly less than surrounding hotels. Parking is somewhat of a hassle, many Disneyland guests use the hotel parking lot for free parking. It was difficult to find a space in the evenings, and there is an additional $4 daily parking charge for guests of the hotel. We will return here on our next visit, can't beat the price or location!

“Location and Landscaping are only plusses”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

2 of 5 stars
Milwaukee

Stayed at Anaheim Plaza Hotel (building 300) with a high school group. Plusses - location near Disney's Main gate and the proximity to restaurants located on Harbor Drive as well as the new restaurants located on Katella. The front desk staff is friendly The grounds are nicely landscaped but unless you want to sleep outside, avoid this hotel!

Minuses - AP is a "vintage" Southern California hotel with many individual buildings with outside entrances. Each building and thus each room is easily accessed WITHOUT going through the lobby. There is basically NO security and anyone off the street can enter the grounds and access the rooms. Food delivery people were seen in the corridors at all hours of the night. The security latch on our door was broken. Each first floor room has a patio door without a secure lock. Money went missing from several of the rooms. Highly recommend locking valuables in luggage with at least a TSA lock but better not to leave anything in the rooms at all. Security is a huge issue at this place.

Based on reviews, I looked for hairs in my bedsheets - didn't find any...however, every towel I opened up had clumps of hair in them which frankly made me sick to my stomach. I would give the cleanliness of the bathroom a C-. The bathrooms are sorely in need of a renovation. The coffee maker looked like it had never been cleaned. The carpet DID appear to be newer but the walls needed painting. Beds were ok - but I like an extra firm bed. Pillows were awful and the maid took my pillow case from home off the pillow when she changed the sheets...I'll never see it again. Maids came in the room several times despite the Do Not Disturb sign on our door.

The phone disconnected everytime it got bumped which was very annoying. The fan in the bathroom was LOUD - so loud you couldn't carrry on a conversation. The fan didn't work to clear the steam however, but since there was no iron or ironing board, we used the steam to freshen our clothing. There WAS an iron burn in the carpet so there must have been an iron in the room as some point.

The breakfast buffet was good and the food plentiful. Our group asked for milk with breakfast but we declined when we were told it was not included in our package and cost TWELVE dollars for each 2 quart pitcher. No wonder California has "happy cows".

The Anaheim Plaza sits on what must be some incredibly valuable real estate so my suggestion to the owners would be to implode it and start over.

There are too many other nice looking budget hotels near to recommend the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. The property is a total dump.

“Best value near Disneyland”

Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites

Apr 19, 2008

This place has the best value of the hotels near the park. They have a huge bar next to the lobby, and they have an olympic size swimming pool, which is unusually large for a motel or even a hotel. Two areas need improvment: the tree in front of the balcony for room 542 needs to be moved or removed, I have told management this several times. Also, if you go to Disneyland in the summer (which I never do) the air conditioning is very weak. They need to be upgraded or better yet replaced with central air.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The value and the large swimming pool. The largest I have seen at a hotel
    • Disliked — The fact that the view of Space Mountain is blocked from room 542 by a palm tree.
