My husband and I came to Roatan on our honeymoon - I could not have dreamt up a better way to spend the week after our wedding! Everyone at the Cay was friendly, from the moment they picked us up at the little airport. They had tasty iced fruit drinks waiting for us when we arrived and showed us to our amazing bungalo Zeni =) The bungalo was awesome, ocean breeze drifted through keeping cool day and night, the bed was huge and SO comfy, not to mention the gorgeous flowers sprinkled throughout the place. We loved the open ceiling showers as well - nothing like looking up and being able to see stars while in the shower! The Cay itself has loads of stuff to do - takes you 5 minutes to have one of their extremely helpful and eager staff put a kayak in the water for you. They provide you with snorkle gear which you can use at any time to explore the reef right off the coast of Barefoot Cay, and if you're brave you can check out the two sunken boats right off the palapa - we discovered a huge puffer fish under one! Not to mention the wonderful hammocks are always inviting. I was MOST impressed with the hospitality and friendliness of the staff - they helped us plan day excursions, gave advice on where to go and what to do, and even allowed us to rent their truck to explore Roatan. The meals were delicious - I had my first lobster dinner at Barefoot Cay! The kitchen staff is awesome - we were always greeted with smiles, and they were always willing to help us out with special requests ( I totally recommend the fruit trays)!
I really can't say enough about the folks at Barefoot Cay - they want you to have a wonderful time in every way possible - our honeymoon will always be an amazing memory thanks to them!

“AMAZING!!!”

Barefoot Cay

WOW!! What an amazing place!
I know there are so many wonderful reviews of this hotel, but I thought I really needed to add one more! :) We had such a great experience here. It is such a personalized place. The staff is fantastic here. From the darling kitchen staff to the boat drivers to the owners to the office staff to the massage therapist. Everyone is fantastic.
It is so well done. Everything!!
I also wanted to review the Dive shop~ We had a great experience there too! Again, really personalized service. Small operation which I love. I do not love being crammed into a dive boat with 30 others. It was so personal and small, there were never more than 6 divers, and usually less. It was great. The staff there is fantastic too. Great instructors/Dive Masters, Manager and also the drivers of the dive boats are so great and helpful!!
I cannot recommend this place enough!!!! Enjoy~

“Barefoot was a Honeymoon in Paradise!!!”

Empty hammocks await you on your own beach island! We were looking for a honeymoon spot that was secluded from the hustle and bustle of a city, but still convenient to restaurants and other adventures on the island, and Barefoot Cay surpassed those expectations.

Between the double ship wrecks full of tropical fish right off of the palapa in snorkel-friendly water, to the grass flats sporting the occasional bonefish ... we found the perfect combination of adventure and solitude for our honeymoon. We snorkeled right off the palapa / pier at Barefoot several times, and ventured out about 150 yards from the palapa to the reef where we found the BEST snorkeling (20 ft reef/blue water!). We even did a bit of fishing in the grass flats right off of Barefoot's beach, and saw bonefish, but mainly caught snapper and rainbow jacks.

We stayed half of our honeymoon at Barefoot Cay, and the other half in Sandy Bay on the other side of the island. We certainly realized that we were completely spoiled by the service, attention to detail and friendliness of the staff at Barefoot. The rooms are very nice, clean and well-stocked with small kitchen and appliances. All of the meals that we ate from Barefoot were excellent! We heard from multiple tourists and even staff from other hotels and restaurants that Barefoot Cay was the best place to stay in Roatan. We second that opinion!

We ended up renting a small truck from Barefoot for two afternoons so that we could explore other parts of the island. For $35 per half day, the truck rental was a great deal when weighing the price of a taxi to the remote east side. We saw the Iguana Farm, did the Jungle Canopy Zipline tour at Palmetto Bay Plantation, did a Mangrove tour in Oak Ridge and even made it past the pavement to Paya Beach where we found a completely secluded beach with great snorkeling and an excellent restauraunt.

Don't forget your sunscreen, as the sun is intense down in Roatan, and we found that Avon Skin so Soft Bug Lotion / Sun Screen worked great with any type of sand flies / "no see-em's"; we recommend using the bug lotion even during the evenings.

Enjoy!

All I can say is "WOW".

Jan and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. John, Milesse and their staff offer a wonderful balance of privacy and service that is second to none. We loved kayaking around the island, swimming and snorkeling in the lagoon, and enjoying the tranquility around the pool. We stayed in the one bedroom cabanas - They are incredible, nicely appointed, very well equipped kitchen and we loved the open air shower'

We hope to visit again soon and see what new services have been added. I have recommended BareFoot Cay to all of my friends.

“Barefoot Cay”

Barefoot Cay

The first word that comes to mind when talking about Barefoot Cay is "Magic" This is truly a world class resort.

Barefoot Cay is where memories are made. From the moment you arrive the staff is there when you need them and when you are enjoying your private time you feel as if you are the only one on the cay.

The bungalows are wonderful. After a quick tour of the cay and a description of the vast amenities we arrived at our bungalow. The fresh cut flowers placed throughout are a touch of luxury.

The meal we had at the cabana kitchen were prepared fresh and the drinks are awsome. We also prepared some of our meals in our bungalow. A quick trip to the local market and a well equipped kitchen is everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. Having a meal 50 feet from the oceans edge is magic.

Barefoot Cay is our distanation of choice.
