“Try not to expect too much”

As part of our honeymoon, we stayed at the Amanjena. We've previously stayed in other Amans, and for some reason, they've never been my favourite hotels. However, my husband is a fan, so we went to Amanjena for our honeymoon.

Having lived in Asia for 4-5 years now, I am probably very spoilt by the hotels here. All have breathtaking scenarios, impeccable service and amazing food. Amanjena could not compete with that.

It took around 20-30 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. The hotel entrance was unimpressive. The villa/ room we had had rather dated decor and not even a flat-screen TV.

The bed wasnt exactly comfortable and didnt even have a proper fluffy duvet. Towels werent fluffy either.

Food was ok, not great; but then I am not a fan of Moroccan food, so I could be biased.

Service was ok, not great. I sent a lot of clothes for laundry and some items went missing and only came back after I seriously complained.

Overall, I would say its an ok experience; not great. I grew up in the UK, so I would imagine if you lived in the UK, this would be a great hotel to visit. However, if you are based in Asia, don't bother. Nothing there is comparable to the standards you get in Asia. For the price, I was expecting much much more ... so was quite disappointed with the whole experience.

“Moroccan Paradise”

Gorgeous rooms and public areas. A near faultless service though the concierge were not all that cooperative...and a wonderful spa (have a traditional hamam).

As with all Aman resorts much of the food is thai influenced and although it is good, whilst in Morocco I would recommend visiting the many restaurants hidden down tiny alleyways in the medina. You go through the wooden doors and enter a hidden palace!

There is no other way to do Morocco than to stay at the Amanjena, but be aware it is not central in town.

Our stay in Amanjena was superb, it's really a paradise on earth.
We were welcomed by the GM who offered some mint tea, then the receptionist took us in a tour, oh a nice big swimming pool!!!
The staff was very professional, smiling and helpful.Dadda, the pool terrace supervisor never stopped to make our stay more enjoyable, suggesting food and excursions.
We are planning to be back ASAP.

“Is Amanjena really perfect ?”

I had the wonderful opportunity to stay four nights at the Amanjena with m wife and my daughter and we all three had a very special and unforgettable time.

The rooms are very big, the private gazebos offer a great opportunity for privacy (breakfast, dinning, resting), the bathroom is the biggest I have ever seen with a nice outside view on a tree, the swimming pool is a dream with its breathtaking view on the atlas mountains, and finally the staff does really represent everything what you might be expecting from a luxury resort: Everybody is always smiling, trying to help you and assist you. Nothing seems fake.

However, there were a few negative points: the food was good but lacking of innovation, we could only check in at 05PM with our little daughter exhausted from a long trip (we left home at 04AM) and we only got a few words of excuse and one cup of tee. ..., I had to wait for more than three hours before being able to get my bill because of an IT problem.

All these things can happen everywhere in the world, however, for the price you pay, you do not expect these things to happen at Amanjena !

But we will for sure give Amanjena a "second chance" !

My husband and I stayed at the Amanjena in March 2007 for 2 nights and although we did not spend much time in the hotel, it was a wonderful experience. The service was perfect, the food was excellent and the property is a beautiful oasis. It is true luxury!
