Golden Tulip Farah Marrakech

Having booked a holiday to a very different kind of city for myself and my 13 year old daughter I was a little apprehensive but the staff at this hotel were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is clean and quiet in a peaceful location, a short taxi ride from the main square and walking distance from the new part of Gueliz.
Swimming pool was cold (february) but the sun loungers were great!
Pool staff were very kind especially to my daughter.
Only downside was the air-con was inefficient - OK in Feb but do check this out if you are going later.
Food was adequate rather than exciting
Do make sure you get the right hotel - it is next door to the Kenzi Farah - even the taxi driver was confused.
We loved the city and would recommend it to those prepared for something a little different to the sanitised west.

“A reasonable hotel”

Golden Tulip Farah Marrakech

First a point of clarification - there are 2 Farah hotels in the same road and adjacent to each other in Marrakech... the Kenzi Farah, and the one that we stayed at Golden Tulip Farah (formerly the Siaha) !!!! This fact may account for the huge variations in reviews of Farah hotels in this forum. It is a leisurely 30 minute walk into the Medina from the hotel, but there are loads of taxis and caleches available.
We stayed at the GT Farah for 5 nights in January 2007, and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The staff were pleasant and friendly, although beware of the concierge who (like all others) is clearly looking to arrange specific bookings with specific taxis & tour operators.
The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable.. the A/C didn't seem to work well in our room but we didn't need it anyway so there was no point in complaining. The room was supplied with fridge.
The communal areas were clean and pleasant and the bar areas comfortable. We didn't try the pool as we knew it would be too cold (overnight temp only 3-6 degrees, although it was clean and supervised all day!!)
The food was good but pricey compared to restaurants in the town, but the menu was varied as there are 3 separate restaurants. Breakfast (included for us) was buffet style and plentiful with lots of choices.
Customer service as we know it hasn't really arrived in Morocco yet, but this is all part of the cultural ambience that you go on holiday to experience, so we just relaxed and waited for things to happen.
If you are planning a stay at this hotel see if you can ask for a room at the back (overlooking the pool), as the front rooms are subject to noise from coaches, people arriving and leaving etc etc. The down side of the pool view rooms is that there is no afternoon sun.

    • Liked — Cleanliness - bearing in mind the horror stories that we had read
    • Disliked — the pushiness of the concierge & porterage staff to arrange everything for you (at an inflated price)
    • Tips/Secrets: — go for rooms at the back of the hotel (as long as you don't mind not having afternoon sun!!)

“Big package type hotel.”

Golden Tulip Farah Marrakech

Typical package hotel, pleasant enough with nice gardens and pool. Rooms average size with reasonable sized bathroom .As lots of package hotels, there were things that didnt work, shower loose and sprayed everywhere, balcony lock broken, i.e. poor maintenance.
The worse thing about the hotel was the poor quality buffet,,,,,,,,,cold food, poor variety, surly staff.
Hotel about 15 minutes walk to old town in a modern area.Much less hassly than main area!

“Would love to go back!”

Golden Tulip Farah Marrakech

Have just got back from a week stay in this hotel and have only got praise for the staff.

We arrived very late at night due to a mix up at the airport and were told on arrival that we could have dinner even at that late hour if we wished.

The quality of food in all three restaurants is very good and the pool bar is excellent for snacks.

Our room was newly renovated and very clean, the towels were changed everyday and most importantly the air conditioning was a dream.

The outings arranged by the hotel were cheaper than the ones provided by our tour operator and were excellent value for money.

I'm planning on going back to return to Marrakech in the future and will be staying at this hotel for sure!

“A fantastic week in Marrakech”

Golden Tulip Farah Marrakech

Just got back from a two week holidy in Morocco. We stayed in the Farah hotel for the first week and had a wonderful time. We arrived very late at night after a 4hr flight from the UK and a 5 hour drive from Agadir, the staff on reception soon had us checked in and ensured our hunger pains were put to bay by speaking to the kitchen and persuding them to make us some food. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and they offer a range of trips from the hotel. We went to Chez Ali (a typical moroccan feast followed by a wonderful display showing how the berbers celebrate during festivals on their horses) We were concerned that the event would be your usual night put on especially for the tourists but we were actully in the minority, the event was full of Moroccans just having a night out - excellent! We also made use of the guide available thorugh the hotel to help us explore the souks, and went on a trip into th Atlas Mountins which was also a thoroughly enjoyable day.

All in all the Farah made our holiday in Morocco a wonderful one.
