I have to start this review with a positive...Karima, the host at this Riad, is a very friendly, polite and nice person. I wouldn't want my review to reflect on her, as that wouldn't be fair. However, this review is about the riad, so here we go.
Primarily, my advice is to stay away. Book yourself into a similarly priced 5 star outside the medina. Once upon a time, maybe 3 0r 4 years ago, this damp, smelly, crumbling old house might have been refurbished to a nice standard, but let me assure you, those days are long gone.
All of the rooms (I looked at them all!), open out directly onto the main room of the house with no privacy. They are damp, tired, noisy and dirty. The floors hadn't been mopped for weeks, the toilets were filthy, and our bed linen had not been changed from previous guests.
There is no way to lock the room when you go out, and no place to store valuables. Breakfast was OK, bread and jam.
Don't get me wrong, I am well travelled, and have stayed in some truly horrid rooms, but I haven't had to pay 89 euros for the priviledge!!!! I'd value these rooms at 20 euros MAX!!
We could have stayed at the Meridien for the same price....
All in all a rotten stay in a rotten city. Stay away!
