Kusini just like all of Tanzania will always hold a special place in our hearts. The camp is located an hour from the nearest "road" and if it is raining like it was when we were there, it provides for a safari in just trying to get there. This was our 3rd and 4th day in the Serengeti and we were lucky enough to see everything we thought we would and more over the first two days, so we were looking forward to chilling out for a couple of days.

Arriving at Kusini in the evening after being on the road for about 12 hours we were tired, dirty and just wanted to do nothing. We were greeted by the lovely S. African couple that run the place and escorted to a brief check in and then our tent. To our delight our porch was set up for a private candlelight dinner and what a dinner it was, three courses, champagne, wine, you name it you had it. The best part was we had our own Masai with us because there was a heard of buffalo roaming about 20-25 feet around our tent, so needless to say it was the most unique dinner we have ever had. Speaking of the tents, they are top notch, extremely comfortable bed, wonderful shower and all the amenities one would expect at a five star hotel.

The grounds are spread out so the tents are not close to each other, which is nice because all you can hear is nature. The dining tent is well equipped and provides a nice atmosphere for communal dining. There is a wonderful kopje behind the dining room to enjoy sundowners from and a great fire pit to enjoy after dinner. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner were all wonderful and was the best food we ate while in the bush.

All of the staff were more than accommodating and really added to the relaxed atmosphere that Kusini offers.

The only downfall of this place is that if the migration is not near Kusini I could see how there would be very little game viewing. We decided to take full advantage of Kusini and only went on 2 three hour game drives over our two days and saw a good amount of game.

If you are looking for a first class place to relax, unwind and take in some beautiful scenery and wildlife this place is for you. It is out of the way but well worth it.

Like the previous reviewer, my wife and I loved Kusini. We also stayed there as part of an A&K safari. They know how to pick places. If you have the option, ask for tent #8. It is the (in my opinion) prime tent location at Kusini. Saw cheetah and lion both fresh on a kill. The staff was just great and helped in any way they could.

We stayed at Kusini as part of our Abercrombie and Kent Safari package. It was not to be believed. Beautiful permanent tented camp. Each tent has a shower, toilet and sink, feather duvet, slippers, bathrobes. You will not want to leave. Enjoy cocktails on sunset rock, a campfire while you wait for dinner to be served Excellent food. Nicola and Mauritz were wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!
