“Relaxing but not perfection”

Goche Ganas Nature Reserve

Apr 16, 2008

My husband and I stayed at GocheGanas for 4 nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but 4 nights was too long. Parts of the stay were good and parts were just okay. We especially enjoyed the game drives with very friendly and informed guides. We went on a number of nature walks and came upon a group of giraffes. Every single person at the retreat is very pleasant and they greet you with a smile. The restaurant was well managed and staff was sensitive to whether we wanted a quick dinner or a slower, relaxed one. They served a lot of wild game which we don't eat. We ordered fish one night and it was fishy tasting. The buffet dinners were pretty good but I wouldn't classify the food as spectacular. The spa was nice. I got a different treatment every day. All of the treatments were average, but the facial was excellent. I wouldn't suggest the reflexology (foot massage) because I've had good foot massages before and I don't think their therapists are adequately trained for that type of massage.
We did have a few problems. They advertised internet service in the rooms. We brought our laptop for just that reason. When we asked the front desk personnel, they said the internet hadn't been working for quite a while and they didn't know when it would be repaired. They didn't offer any apology or special service to compensate. We ended up driving 45 minutes into Windhoek to get service.
The beds are "king sized" but actually two twin beds pushed together which seems typical in Namibia. One of the beds had broken springs which caused you to roll off the bed if you came too close to it. We talked with the front desk and they said they would inform housekeeping. Nothing was done about it.
I don't think we will ever go back there again...once is enough. Actually, 2 nights would have been plenty!

“Beautiful lodge, fantastic views”

Stayed at Goche Ganas for two nights at the very end of January. These were the two first nights of my African holiday, so I arrived straight from Europe (after 24 hours of travelling) and just wanted a place to chill and relax. Tis is perfect to do exactly that.
The views are splendid. The rooms/chalets are nice, big and very clean. The spa offers nice treatments (spent about 3 hours there each day). Overall, a very enjoyable start of my vacation. Only slight minimal downside: The restaurant is not as great as you experience it in other lodges. Width of choice and all that is a little limited. But that is really only a very minor remark, really.
One thing you should note: GG is only 30 km south of Windhuk, but, if you are coming from the airport and decide to drive through Windhuk, then down, it is about 90 km to drive. But driving is very easy, the last 9 km is good gravel road. No probs. Just takes an hour or so.

“High quality lodge and spa”

Goche Ganas Nature Reserve

We stayed at Goche Ganas for our first night in Namibia and were delighted we did. Everything about this resort is quality - the location, the accommodation, the spa and the food. Stay here and you definately won't be disappointed.
Our only advice would be to wrap up warm if you are visiting during the winter months. We stayed here in May and because this lodge is 1600m up in the mountains the temperature drops below freezing pretty much as soon as the sun goes down!

We stayed in february 2007 in Goche Ganas Lodge, and I can express that it is a beautiful place, it has a very good service, incredible food and facilities. The staff is extremely friendly. Very near to Windhoek, the lodge has several chalets very warms and well decorated. They are on a hill with a wonderful view of the valleys. The spa facilities are outstanding. It worth absolutely the price.....
I hope to come back soon.

“Gocheganas Lodge”

Goche Ganas Nature Reserve

I recently stayed at Gocheganas Nature Reserve and Wellness Village and have to say it is a truly magical place. It is situated about 30km from Windhoek on nature reserve on a hilltop with panoramic views. All chalets have perfect panoramic views as does the restaurant and terrace area. The rooms have thatched roofs but are very modern in a luxury manner. The beds are wonderful and just wanted to lie in them all day. Each en-suite has a sunken bath that you can soak in looking out across your private balcony and view. There is also a private outside shower which also was a delight to use.. The best Shower view i've ever had! We used the lodge wellness village which has a great range of beauty therapies / massage and various other treatments. They were magical and reasonably priced. Meals are inclusive and of a high standard. The staff were friendly. Various other activities around the lodger were available. We did the sundown game drive and had excellent sightings of Giraffe / Zebra and white Rhino among others. . The accommodation prices are not cheap.. but worth it i think. It makes an excellent place to just relax or spoil yourself at the end of a safari or similar.
I will most definitely want to stay here again.
