We stayed at the Shangri La for two nights at the beginning and end of an expedition. The first night we were given a room on the ground floor which was dark and dingy. The shower was broken, and the entire room was "tired" to say the least, however so were we so we ate some dinner in the restaurant (quite nice) and slept! The room appeared no better in full daylight, but served it's purpose. The second stay 10 days later, we asked for a room that was less dingy and were immediately given a room on the 4th floor, which appeared to be the xec. floor. It was like another hotel; such a huge difference between the two! This room was of an international standard, overlooking the beautiful gardens - just what we needed after a tiring trek! All in all an above average hotel, with a lovely garden, and nice breakfast.
