“Wonderful and Peaceful Hotel in Thamel”

Hotel Courtyard

I was not going to stay in Kathmandu, but I missed my flight to Paro, so I went to Thamel to find a room to stay one night. After being in various hotels, I arrived the Courtyard. I couldn't believe such a peaceful place in the middle of Thamel. Michelle and Pujan (the owners) finally made up one room for me, and I stayed there for that night, and returned two weeks later to stay two more nights. The hotel is in the middle of Thamel, you can walk around the busy streets, with the busy traffic and all the people, and when returning to the hotel, you can have a beer at the fantastic courtyard or at the library (wonderful room with so many books and good music) and have conversations with other travelers and Michelle and Pujan.
The rooms are fantastic, large, high ceilings, good beds, clean and silent.
I had a great time over there and I recommend this place for all kind of travellers visiting Kathmandu.

We used Hotel Courtyard as our base for our week in Nepal and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel completely at home by Pujan and Michelle. They couldnt have done more for us and made this part of our honeymoon very special. We will be returning to Nepal as we fell in love with the country and will look forward to staying at Hotel Courtyard again. We have recommended the hotel to everyone we have met who was heading towards Kathmandu!

“Feel like Friend's house”

Hotel Courtyard

Apr 19, 2008

It was very nice and comfortable hotel. My wife and I have ever visited Kathmandu before, and liked very much. So, we decided to bring our both mother to come with us this time.

Frankly, my previous experience gave us no expectation on hotels especially around Thamel area until we found Courtyard.

We let our both mother to stay at Suite room. It is over our expectation at Thamel. My wife and I stayed at double room, whereby the comfortable bed accommodated our feeling very nicely.

Clean and Comfortable!

Courtyard Hotel treats customer very professionally in friendly manner. We loved it so much, must go back again.
Strongly recommended.

“Best & friendliest hotel in Kathmandu”

Hotel Courtyard

Apr 17, 2008

I stayed at the Courtyard, off and on, for a total of about 10 days. My abiding memory of the place will be the owners - Pujon and his wife Michelle - who go out of their way - literally!! - to get to know each guest and cater to his/her needs, if this means getting their personal barber sent to your room or insistingly topping up your empty glass in the bar/library. (both of which they did for me) Rarely have I had a more personal experience from ANY business.

But there's more, of course. Even the most basic of their rooms have a comfortable bed, hot shower and a lot of natural light. Their more upmarket rooms have, in addition, four-poster beds and tasteful artwork on the walls. There are also plans afoot for a suite, which will up the ante even more.

The location is central, but on a lane far enough from the main thoroughfare that you don't get the noise pollution of Thamel. "It's not Thamel," one of my friends remarked, having seen its grand architecture and open paved spaces, the latter of which are ideal for sitting around in the sun, relaxing or planning your day. In addition, their "library" contains a wealth of books, DVDs and music. Ask Pujon to play one of my (Simon's) CDs....

“An amazing hideaway”

Hotel Courtyard

I heard about this hotel whilst I was staying in Kathmandu and it took some time to find! However I am so glad I persevered - it was worth it. Once I found it I moved in right away. My room boasted a four poster bed and a view over the courtyard. As per a previous report, there is plenty of hot water (once you find the right switch!). The reception areas are cozy with a real Nepalese feel. Visit the bar at the end of a day's sightseeing and sink into a comfy sofas in the library . There is a small cinema and with a good selection of DVDs you can choose the movie you want to see. But the best thing about The Courtyard is the staff and especially the owners. I cant think of another hotel where having just checked in I was immediately invited to the owners birthday party! Incidentally there is a great club just around the corner 'The Comfort Zone' - a great place to chill out in the evening. I would recommend The Courtyard to anyone visiting Kathmandu. This was my tenth visit to Nepal - I just wish I had discovered The Courtyard earlier in my travels!
